Carousel Notes Card

This is another use of the Carousel Notes that I showed at the Spring Retreat last weekend. It uses one-quarter of a Carousel Note to make a pocket on a 4 1/4" square card that can hold a smaller card, a teabag, gift card or whatever else you can fit in it!

This particular one uses the Wild Wasabi Note and Porcelain Prints Designer Paper.
Below are two other views; one with the smaller card out and the other with a teabag in the pocket.

Accessories: Pick-a-Petal Classy Brass Template, Paper Piercing tool, Stylus, Bayou Blue Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon; Scallop, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches.

Live Your Dream with Carousel Notes

Here's one of the items I demo-ed at Retreat last weekend using the Carousel Notes. I laid the Pick-a-Petal Classy Brass Template (you can see a little of it in the lower right-hand corner) over the CN then using my Signo White Gel Pen, I colored in the large holes around the scalloped edge. Without moving the template, I then took a Chocolate Chip Marker (the fine tip) and marked the next row of small holes, which gave a fine dotted border all around.

I cut the Afternoon Tea Designer Paper with the Coluzzle to form the design layer. With the matching flower from the Live Your Dream stamp set, I stamped in Chocolate Chip ink just a little "off" from the matching white pattern in the paper, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig for placement. The bottom stripe is the opposite side of the top portion of Designer Paper and the small flowers were added in Chocolate Chip. A piece of Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon with a tie finish off the design.

The Carousel Notes come with 6 1/4" square envelopes (seen in the background above), which are great for adding rub-ons or stamping with white Craft or Staz-On! See another project with the envelopes here.

I enjoyed making a number of projects with the Carousel Notes and discovering some fun possibilities. I'll share more with you soon. Right now I must go get ready for my workshop tonight. : )

Thanks for dropping by! Happy Monday!

Powder Room Perk-Ups

Home decor is currently a big trend in papercrafting. For retreat, our planning team did a display table with items for decorating and "pretty-ing"up one's home. This trio is for the powder room and includes a fragrant candle, a bottle for cotton tips and a decorated spare roll of tissue.

The glass candle holder is embellished with the Chocolate Rub-Ons from the Sale-A-Bration set and a touch of chocolate poly twill ribbon. The jar and tissue have a band of Chocolate Chip cardstock and Afternoon Tea Designer Paper. The Designer Paper was wheeled with the Swirly Jumbo Wheel before applying. The same chocolate ribbon is tied around each. The top of the jar is layered with Chocolate Chip Cardstock and Afternoon Tea DP and a half-back pearl from the Pretties Kit.

Any ideas how you can use your stamping talent and supplies to spiffy up a small area in your home? It can be quick, easy and inexpensive using what you may already have on hand!

Thanks for dropping by! Happy Saturday!

Door Prizes for Retreat

Our demonstrator retreat begins this evening with demonstrations in the round and then one project. Each participant brings three door prizes and then we each receive three door prizes during the course of the retreat. It's a lot of fun to see what great ideas everyone shares!!

For my door prizes I decorated three wire closure jars with Pink and Chocolate cardstock. The pink band around the jar is wheeled with the Baroque wheel in Chocolate; the top sports a medallion from the Baroque Motifs set layered on solid Chocolate Chip and accented with a touch of Dazzling Diamonds. Each jar has a tag embossed in Chocolate Chip Craft, made with "Enjoy" from the Lovely Labels set which I'm find so useful lately. Each jar is filled with chocolate kisses.

On the left is a picture of the top of the jars.

Hope you enjoy. Thanks for stopping by!

Carousel Notes Basket

I've been playing around with the Carousel Notes from the Occasions Mini Catalog and they are so much fun. The possibilities seem to be endless with them! On this project, I used only the gorgeous Chocolate Chip 6 1/4" square envelope to make a version of the bagalope, only this time with a handle. This is a great size for a small gift, treats, candy, jewelry (oh yea, my husband doesn't read my blog, lol!), etc. : )

The Berry Bliss Designer Paper looks so pretty with these envelopes. The paper I selected has little pink stars on it so I quickly went with that theme. It gave me a chance to play with my large and small star punches, the star chipboard and the Chunky glitter from the Occasions mini. Ooo, love it!

Back view:
Stamps: none
Ink: none (I must quit doing that! lol!)
Paper: Carousel Note envelope, Berry Bliss Designer Paper, Pretty in Pink cardstock.
Accessories: 1/4" pink grosgrain ribbon, Chunky glitter, On Board Chipboard stars, Small and Large Star Punches, Double Rectangle hole punch, Snail adhesive, Tombow Multi Glue. All products Stampin' Up!

I will have more Carousel Note projects and other things to share with you soon. This weekend is our annual demonstrators retreat which I help with so I've been stamping a good bit, just couldn't share it previously.

Hope you enjoy! Happy Thursday, everyone!

Two Pocket Card

At our April demo meeting we made these clever two pocket cards. They are a perfect use for the double-sided Designer Series Paper as both sides of the paper will show on the finished card. The pattern can be found in the Oct/Nov 2007 Technique Junkies newsletter (the Online Bonus). See http://www.techniquejunkies.com/ for more information.

I used this design from the Bali Breeze Designer Series Paper which has flowers on one side and an Old Olive print on the other. You can see the olive in the upper righthand corner and side. Two cards fill the pockets, which is fun because you can decorate them with stamps and still have plenty of room for greetings and personal messages.

I used the Always set which is one of my current favorites. It has so many images that make it so versatile.

The last picture shows the back portion open; a variation is to adhere it closed and put the brads through that layer also.

Sets: Always
Paper: Bali Breeze DSP; Groovy Guava, Old Olive and Whisper White cardstock.
Inks: Old Olive, Groovy Guava
Accessories: Round Tab and Three For You (flowers) punches; bone folder, Cutter Kit (distressing tool), Earth Elements brads, Signo White Gel Pen.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Stitched Exotics

I haven't been able to post in awhile as I've been out of town, having returned late Sunday evening and in a meeting all day yesterday. I also missed doing Technostamper's Monday Challenge this week due to my schedule so I'm having posting withdrawals! I do have a new card for today, using a new set I ordered this month taking advantage of the current Stampin' Up! "Free Wheeling" special! See http://www.stampinup.com/ for more details.

I've been eye-ing the Stitched Exotics set ever since the new Spring-Summer Catalog arrived! I just had to order it this month and receive the free coordinating jumbo wheel with it as part of the "Free Wheeling" special from Stampin' Up!

Sets: Stitched Exotics, Curvy Verses
Papers: Blue Bayou Designer Prints; Whisper White, Regal Rose and Soft Sky cardstocks.
Inks: Regal Rose, Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, So Saffron
Accessories: Blue Bayou Stitched Grosgrain, 2 Way Glue Pen; Key Tag, BoHo Flowers, Five Petal Flower, Three For You and 1/2" punches.

If you are one of my customers and wish to order from this special, contact me soon as the special ends at the end of the month.

Happy Tuesday!

Lovely Labels & More Rub Ons!

I saw this cute little pail and couldn't resist buying it because I knew it would be just perfect for some rub ons, especially the CHOCOLATE!! Blue and brown are so yummy together (lol!) so I couldn't wait to get home and decorate this for a little gift of, what else, CHOCOLATE!

The rub ons are from my free Sale-A-Bration stash (I hope you didn't miss getting some of these during Sale-A-Bration). Just be sure to clean your surface before applying them; I used a cotton ball and alcohol to get my surface free of fingerprints and any oils. I used a SU cello bag for my treats, tied with lucious 5/8" CHOCOLATE grosgrain ribbon.

The tag is stamped with CHOCOLATE CHIP Craft ink and clear embossed, then a hanger punched with the Word Window punch and embellished with a flower punched with the Three For You punch is added to the top. SU's new narrow poly twill ribbon in CHOCOLATE (do you see a theme here? lol!) is threaded through and tied to the top. Below is a close-up of the tag. I can see that Lovely Labels is going to be a great and useful addition to my stamp collection as it has four stamps which fit a variety of occasions and uses, such as tags, cards, 3-D projects and scrapbook pages.

Stamps: Lovely Labels
Inks: Chocolate Chip Craft
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: silver brad, corner rounder punch, Three for You punch, Word Window punch, 5/8" grosgrain ribbon, 1/4" poly twill, cello bag.

All products ©Stampin' Up! except pail, candy and shreds.

Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for dropping by!

TSSC Week 12 - Stitched Exotics

Hello!

It's Monday and time for Technostamper's Sketch Challenge #12 already! I really like the sketch for this week and found it easy to work with and I am excited to get to use my new stamp set, Stitched Exotics:

And here's my card. For the main layer I used one of the Real Red designs from the Designer Series Paper "Prints Pack" which is a Level 1 Hostess reward. This great pack has five wonderful colors of Designer Paper not available otherwise: Real Red, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi and Bashful Blue. Twelve sheets of each, for a total of sixty 6" x 6" sheets makes for a great assortment and value.

The stitched swirl from the set stamped in white on the red cardstock base coordinates with the look of stitching in the Designer Paper. The focal flower is stamped in red, cut out and layered on celery then Basic Gray. The entire celery/gray layer is paper pierced to again mimic the stitching design. The small flower in the set was stamped in red three times and punched out for the embellishment, then stamped in celery once for the large flower center. I have been eye-ing Stitched Exotics ever since it came out in the catalog and am tickled to finally get it (taking advantage of the current special, of course, because I reallly like jumbo wheels and of course, I also like to get things FREE!) : )

Set: Stitched Exotics
Paper: Real Red from Designer Paper Prints Pack (Level 1 Hostess); Whisper White, Basic Gray, Certainly Celery cardstocks
Inks: Real Red Classic, White StazOn inks
Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon, green Circle Ice Rhinestone brad, Dimensionals, 1/2" punch, Mat Pack and Paper Piercer.

The Stitched Exotics set is part of the Free Wheelin' Special available until April 30. When you purchase any of the six sets, you receive the coordinating Jumbo Wheel, a $10.00 total value (including tax, shipping), for FREE!! Gotta' love those specials, especially the free ones! : ^)

Check out Technostamper.blogspot.com for Mary Jo's card and links to the other players in this sketch. Join in the challenge by uploading your card to your blog, SplitcoastStampers or other website and post the link in the comments on Mary Jo's blog so we can all see it!

Hope you enjoy. Happy Monday. Thanks for dropping by!

Tart and Tangy too!

Oranges and Lemons and Limes, Oh My! Here's another card made with the Tart & Tangy set from Stampin' Up!'s current Occasions Mini Catalog. I received this in a swap at the Tulsa Regional seminar from Rhonda Griffin (rondag on SCS). I love the bright and cheery colors which work so well with this set. The focal orange image is also scratch and sniff, so you can get the orange fragrance when it is scratched. How fun!

Stamp sets: Tart and Tangy, One Smart Cookie (sm. orange and sentiment)
Cardstock: Whisper White, Yoyo Yellow, Green Galore, Only Orange.
Ink: Yoyo Yellow, Green Galore, Only Orange Craft.
Accessories: Dimensionals, 1/2", 3/4", 1 3/8", Scallop Punch, Lg and Sm. Oval punches, Only Orange Grosgrain ribbon, clear ep.

Thanks, Rhonda, for a great swap!

Technostamper Challenge #11

What a busy week! I finally got a chance to photograph
and upload my card for the Technostamper Sketch Challenge #11!

Here's the sketch and here's my card below:

I used the new Tart & Tangy set from Stampin' Up!'s Occasions Mini Catalog. It's such a fresh and fun new set and the Summer Picnic Designer Paper was designed to coordinate perfectly with it! This is great set for spring and summer, and can be used in so many ways.

I stamped the fruits, then embossed them with the VersaMarker pen and clear ep, then added some Dazzling Diamonds for highlights.

Stamps: Tart & Tangy; Rough Texture Jumbo wheel (on red card base)
Inks: Real Red Classic and Jumbo Cartridge, Bashful Blue, VersaMark
Cardstock: Real Red, Old Olive, Bashful Blue; Summer Picnic Designer Paper
Accessories: Olive brad, Red Gingham ribbon, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" sq. punches, pinking scissors, clear embossing powder, 2 Way Glue pen, Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

Check out http://technostamper.blogspot.com/ to see the list of other stampers who participated this week.  Join in yourself and post a comment on Mary Jo's blog to be added to the list!
