I Dig Your Birthday!

Oh, do I have lots of birthday cards to make/send for March!  Two granddaughters and several of their children as well as friends too!  I've made my list and I'm checking them off as I get them made and ready to mail.

This one is for a kindergarten boy who loves cars and trucks that is turning six.  I bought this set last spring and it retired soon after so this is actually my first time to ink it up!  It has several construction vehicles and is so cute for birthdays.  Inside the sentiment is "Happy Dirtday"!   Pretty appropriate, hum?

Stamps:  I Dig You (retired)
Ink:  Memento Black pad; Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Garden Green, Real Red, Sahara Sand and Basic Black Stampin' Write Markers.
Paper:  Stacked with Love Designer Paper Stack;, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White cardstock.

Spring Flowers and Butterfly! CCMC344

Today we have Create with Connie and Mary Color Challenge #344!  It's a lovely combination of Blackberry Bliss, Rose Red and Blushing Bride!  I suspect that Mary was influenced by the Artisan Embellishment Kit in the Occasions Catalog for this combo, lol!, because these are the colors used in this kit!

I began with a standard 5.5" x 4.25" folded card of Rose Red cardstock and layered it with Blackberry Bliss.  Next the Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF for short) was sponged with the three challenge colors and spritzed  lightly with water.  Then I put the white cardstock layer in it and rubbed it well with my fingers (I did not run it through the Big Shot).  This gives a soft multicolored Spring Flowers background for the card. 

The Blackberry Bliss Butterfly was adhered with Glue Dots.  The Rose Red Crochet Trim from the Artisan Embellishment Kit was "threaded" it with the narrow and lush Blackberry Bliss Velvet Ribbon;  I attached this with Fast Fuse Adhesive which holds it wonderfully well!  The "Happy Day" sentiment is from the Cheerful Critters set  and the small flowers from the Something to Say set.

Paper:  Whisper White, Blackberry Bliss, Rose Red, Blushing Bride

Park Lane Birthday

Today we have a super new sketch from Create with Connie and Mary!  Very simple, easy and versatile!  Great for CAS (Clean and Simple), quick cards, and fun techniques too!

I looked through my Designer Paper and chose this print from the Park Lane DSP Collection for the upper part of the sketch.  The card itself is Daffodil; I added the Park Lane panel and finished the bottom off with a swath of Chevron Natural Ribbon with the chevrons turned inside and the natural back showing.  This was edged with the sweet Venetian Crochet Trim.  The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede, which is a color from the designer paper.

I wanted to add more depth to the top so I cut out four flowers from the designer paper, curled them slightly with my bone folder and attached them with Glue Dots.  For the three dots, I used So Saffron buttons, colored them with my Daffodil Delight Blendabilities and centered them with 1/4" circles of Gold Glimmer Paper.

Lotus Blossom CCMC342

It's time for another challenge from Create with Connie and Mary!  Today we have  an interesting  color combination to use of Basic Black, Hello Honey and Sahara Sand!  I began with pulling out these colors of stamp pads, sheets of cardstock and looking through my Designer Paper!  I didn't find any that combined these colors so I made my own using a black and white design from the Back to Black DSP pack and brayering it with Sahara Sand ink.  Viola!  Just what I needed for this card!

 

The Lotus was stamped with Hello Honey:  the first stamp full strength, second was stamped off once and the third (the full stamp) was stamped off twice after inking and before stamping to give three different tones of the same color. 

Stamps:  Lotus Blossom (SAB 2015).
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Hello Honey, Sahara Sand
Paper:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Sahara Sand.  Back to Black DSP.
Accessories:  Basic Pearls, Daffodil Blendabilities (darkest tone to color pearls), 1/8" Black Taffeta Ribbon
Tools:  Brayer, Top Note Die, Artisan Label Punch, Project Life Corner Rounder, Big Shot

We have a fun sketch for you this week at Create with Connie and Mary!  Two horizontal bands, two vertical banners and a bit of ribbon.. that's it!  You really should join us for the fun!

I used a color palette straight from the Stacked with Love Designer Paper Stack:  Real Red, Whisper White and Basic Black on a card base of Basic Black.  The sentiment is from the You Plus Me set and diecut with a Heart Framelit.
