Today we have a fun color challenge from Create with Connie and Mary featuring Hello Honey, Pool Party and Basic Gray. I thought using horizontal banners would be a good way to combine these colors so I went from there!
I used a melange of stamps and papers for this card, lol! I used the Tape It set for one of the banners, combined with other Designer Papers and cardstocks. So nice that you can count on having all these various products color coordinate!
The flower was stamped twice with the Flower Patch set and the second flower was hand-cut and layered. The Pool Party flowers are from the same set, also diecut and the Petite Petals set and Punch for the smallest flowers.
Stamps: Flower Patch, A Dozen Thoughts (greeting), Tape It (houndstooth banner), Perfect Pennants (Hello Honey polka dot banner), Petite Petals.
Inks: Hello Honey, Basic Gray, Pool Party and a touch of Calypso Coral
Paper: Neutrals Designer Paper Stack, Moonlight Paper Stack, Pool Party, Basic Gray and Whisper White cardstock.
Accessories: Basic Pearls, Flower Fair Framelits, Petite Petals Punch,
What a cool combination, one I perhaps would never have thought up but very pretty together! How about you joining us for the challenge this week? Here are the colors again:

Tag Talk, CCMC 317
Wow, August is flying by!! Today is the 21st, already! We have a fun sketch challenge this week at Create with Connie and Mary and it's an excellent way to use your washi tape or small pieces of DSP left from larger projects!
I used strips from the Confetti Celebration DSP for the sketch lines. For the focal point, I diecut Brushed Gold cardstock with the filmstrip framelit from the On Film Framelits set. (Whew, that was a mouthful!) I cut Vellum cardstock to adhere behind it so the DSP could be seen through it... kinda like film?
I pulled in the Bermuda Bay and Strawberry Slush colors from the DSP and cardstock to stamp the layered greeting. I sure like that this set has more than one greeting to layer on this striped background, plus, you could use other small greetings, like those from the A Round Array set to layer over this background. The label is punched out with the Label Bracket Punch and the greeting with the 1" Square punch. So easy!
Stamps: Tag Talk
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush
Paper: Confetti Celebration DSP; Bermuda Bay and Whisper White cardstock. Vellum Cardstock.
Accessories: Oh Film Framelits, Label Bracket Punch, 1" Square Punch, In Color Sequins, Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine.
Here's the sketch for this week from Create with Connie and Mary:
Follow this LINK to Create with Connie and Mary to see what the other designers have done with this sketch; they have some wonderful ideas and projects!! Four Feathers and More!
I'm excited to be on my first Control Freaks' Blog Hop! Wow, what a talented group of ladies they are! So you may have just come from Dawn Olchefske's blog but if you started here just click on the link on each blog to go around the loop and see everyone's projects! Our theme this month is Simple and Elegant... I started rather simple but seemed to have gotten more "stuff" on my projects as I went along!
I chose to use the new Four Feathers set and Framelits for my first two projects. Here's my first card:
I used the feather framelits to cut into the Basic Gray to expose the Confetti Celebration DSP underneath. The medallion is from the Starburst Sayings, stamped onto Brushed Silver cardstock then embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. Happy Birthday is from the Endless Birthday Wishes set.
Here's a little bit closer look; a Bermuda Bay Candy Dot centers the medallion.
I clustered the feathers behind a greeting from the Blue Ribbon set, stamped in Calypso Coral layered on a Designer Label frame. You'll see Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana and Crisp Canteloupe in the feathers and the thick Baker's Twine. This is a simplified version; I pared it down a bit from the original! lol!
Last is one of my favorite things made with the new Fry Box Die in the new catalog. Although I didn't use the feathers here, I used a southwest theme to decorate this treat box using the Geometrical set, Fringe Scissors, Star Framelit and punch. I filled a small cellophane bag with almond kisses and tied it up with Crushed Curry Chevron Ribbon adding a bit of Gold Sequin trim for fun! These boxes are SO simple to make... I see lots of them in my future! : )
The next person on the Hop is the amazing Wendy Weixler! Click on the link to go to her blog; she will have some fab projects for you to enjoy!

Happy Umpteenth Birthday! CCMC316
We have a beautiful color combo to use for our challenge this week at Create with Connie and Mary! Blackberry Bliss, Soft Sky and Old Olive are the colors we get to work with and they look great together!
Before attaching to the olive layer, I wrapped a length of White Organza ribbon around then wrapped Old Olive Baker's Twine around twice and tied it in a bow. After adhering the Soft Sky, I attached the sentiment with Dimensionals. The flower stamp from Something to Say was stamped in Blackberry Bliss and attached with Glue Dots. I actually made a another card first and put just a touch of Dazzling Details in the center; when it dried the centers were a bright pink! Even though I liked how they looked, I decided to make another one that stuck with the color scheme, lol!
Here's what I used:
Stamps: Oh My Goodies, Kinda Eclectic, Something to Say.
Inks: Old Olive, Blackberry Bliss
Paper: Whisper White, Soft Sky, Old Olive, Blackberry Bliss
Accessories: Flower punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Deco Framelits, Old Olive Bakers Twine, White Organza Ribbon, Paper Snips, Glue Dots, Dimensionals.
Here again are the challenge colors from Create with Connie and Mary this week:
This is such a pretty color scheme; how about you making a card using them and linking it up to Create with Connie and Mary? All the guidelines are on their website and it's super easy! We would love to see what YOU do with these colors! We are always inspired by your creations!
Thanks for visiting! Hope to see you soon on Create with Connie and Mary!

I just received this new Oh My Goodies set and thought the birthday image would be a great focal point stamped in Blackberry Bliss, which I did. I then stamped it again in Old Olive and cut out the "umpteenth" to layer on top. The card base is Blackberry Bliss layered with Old Olive then the top layer of Soft Sky stamped with the leaves from Kinda Eclectic set.

Do U Speak Flamingo Lingo?
WooHoo, I'm finally sharing the card I made for my first Control Freaks swap! I was honored and excited to be invited to join this group of fabulous SU stampers! Since the theme was New Catalog swap, I chose to use the cute Flamingo Lingo set new in this catalog!
Stampin' Up! had a flamingo set years ago; I used a friend's set but never bought it. This time I jumped at the chance to have this fun and sunny set! The color scheme is Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight and a touch of Garden Green.
Here's what I used for my twenty-six swap cards:
Stamps: Flamingo Lingo, Petite Petals, Gorgeous Grunge, Kinda Eclectic (sun rays).
Inks: Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green. Green Sharpie to color Rhinestones.
Paper: Strawberry Slush, Whisper White cardstocks. Gold Glimmer Paper. Sweet Taffy DSP.
Accessories: Scallop Top Tag, Petite Petals, 3/4" Circle (sun), Bird Builder (leaf stems) Punches. Bitty Banners Framelits, Rhinestones.
Hope you enjoy this fun set! Happy Stamping!

Park Lane, Flower Patch CCMC315
We have a fun sketch for you this week at Create with Connie and Mary! All these fun verticals in the background are an interesting opportunity for creativity! I chose to use strips of the lovely Designer Series Paper Collection, Park Lane.
The card base is Daffodil Delight with a layer of Old Olive cardstock over that. Then the strips of DSP according to the sketch.
The large Flower Patch stamp was inked in Daffodil Delight and stamped onto Whisper White, then a second one was stamped also. The large flower was diecut with the matching Flower Fair Framelit and the center section was fussy cut with my Paper Snips and layered with a Dimensional.
The horizontal banners were cut from the Park Lane DSP (top) and the Sweet Taffy (bottom, Daffodil Delight ombre). I used Vanilla Shimmer Spritz over the card then several Pearls were added. I didn't add a greeting but chose to wait until I was ready to send the card.
Stamps: Flower Patch
Inks: Daffodil Delight
Paper: Park Lane and Sweet Taffy DSP; Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Whisper White cardstocks.
Accessories: Flower Fair Framelits, Big Shot, Paper Trimmer, Vanilla Shimmer Spray, Paper Snips, Pearls, Dimensionals.
Here is the clever sketch we have from Connie and Mary this week. It may look challenging but remember it is open to interpretation by the stamp artist!
Now what about you? Are you game to take on this challenge? Visit the Create with Connie and Mary website for the guidelines, make your card and upload it then link back to the CWCM challenge post! While you are there, look for the cards from the other Design Team members.. they are always so creative and inspiring!
