Banner Christmas CCMC279

First let me wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving today!  I hope you have a wonderful day with family and friends!  Lots of fun, food and gratitude!

Today being Thursday means that it's another fun challenge from Create with Connie and Mary... this time a great sketch challenge.  I used one of my favorite holiday sets,  A Banner Christmas and some favorite colors for this season, Real Red, Old Olive and Crumb Cake.

I really like sketch challenges because they provide the layout for the card so some of the work is already done for you.   I used Designer Series Paper for the two background panels:  Season of Style and Polka Dot Parade.

The words on the smaller front panel are  from A Banner Christmas set... I love that little "JOY" banner, don't you?  I added three stars punched from Red Glimmer Paper.. love that stuff, so sparkly!

Paper piercing across the top and bottom edges of the front panel and a medium Rhinestone colored with a Sharpie marker are the finishing accents to the card.

Thoughts and Prayers CCMC278

We have a great Color Challenge this week over at Create with Connie and Mary!  I haven't used Always Artichoke much lately but I was glad we used it for our challenge!  How fun is this challenge to use Always Artichoke with Tangerine Tango and Sahara Sand!

I recently purchased the Regals Collection Designer Paper Pack which has DSP in all ten colors of the color family so I had this wonderful Artichoke paper to work with!  The Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper provided me with both the subtle Tangerine Tango houndstooth check and the lovely Sahara Sand/Whisper White print, which reminds me of a lattice.

I colored the image with markers then punched out cardstock and DSP flowers with the tiny flower punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and centered them with Pearls.   The sentiment is from the same set, stamped in Artichoke onto Sahara Sand Cardstock.

Paper:  Sweater Weather and Regals Collection Designer Series Paper; Tangerine Tango and Sahara Sand cardstock.

Happy Birthday, Etcetera

Today Connie and Mary have a very interesting sketch for our weekly Thursday Challenge CCMC277!  I chose to use the lovely Etcetera Designer Series Paper for the background panels as well as the focal flower image.

I love the distressed look of some of the papers in this Etcetera package, as well as the muted or worn colors of Old Olive, Night of Navy and Calypso Coral.  The lightest color DSP is a Crisp Cantaloupe print from the Birthday Basics Designer Paper Collection.

The flower was punched out with the Pansy Punch and the Blossom Punch, centered with a medium button tied with double Linen Thread.  The banner was stamped in Calypso Coral with a greeting from the Bring on the Cake set.

Tags 4 You -Thanksgiving

I love this new Artisan Label Punch and the set of stamps that goes with it!   I used both for this card similar to one I designed for a workshop Make and Take with a fall/Thanksgiving theme:

The Sweater Weather designer paper is just perfect for a fall/Thanksgiving card with it's warm golds, oranges and browns.  It goes great with the Burlap ribbon and Woodgrain embossed Crumb Cake cardstock.

I like the look of the paper "ribbon" overlaid with the Tangerine Tango 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon where the two background papers join.

I don't "love" to fussy cut but sometimes I just have to, lol!  This time it was these little acorns from the Harvest of Thanks set.

Stamps:  Tags 4 You, Harvest of Thanks (acorns), Gorgeous Grunge (speckles)
Ink:  Crumb Cake, Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip.  Stampin' Write Markers:  Crumb Cake, Crisp Cantaloupe to color acorns

Gently Falling CCMC276

There's a lovely Color Challenge over at Create with Connie and Mary today:  Real Red, Coastal Cabana and Smoky Slate.  I had the Gently Falling set out on my stamping desk so decided to go with a non-traditional fall get well card for a friend who just had surgery.

 

The larger Smoky Slate background was stamped with the lines from Gorgeous Grunge using Whisper White Craft Ink.  

The smaller Smoky Slate layer was stamped with the woven chevron stamp from the Truly Grateful set then lightly stamped with Coastal Cabana and the splatter stamp.  Whisper White cardstock was stamped with Coastal Cabana lines then the sentiment in Real Red.

The more solid leaf was stamped with Coastal Cabana and the outlines with Real Red then quickly heat embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder for some sparkle (which you can just barely see in the above picture)!  The narrow Real Red Ribbon and Rhinestones complete the card.

Stamps:  Gently Falling, Gorgeous Grunge, Express Yourself, Truly Grateful

Papers:  Real Red, Smoky Slate, Whisper White cardstock

Ink:  Real Red, Coastal Cabana,  Whisper White Craft

A Banner Christmas!

Have you started your Christmas cards yet?  I've begun but not finished... Today's card is one I did for a workshop last week using my newest Christmas set entitled A Banner Christmas; I believe I'll be making more of these for my Christmas card list!

I love the banners that spell out JOY!  And the smaller "Christmas" word sits easily above the banner if you wish to use it!   I stamped JOY on Whisper White cardstock with Raspberry Ripple, diecut it with a Deco Label Framelit then layered it onto a larger Raspberry Ripple framelit.

The "Christmas" was inked in Old Olive and punched out with the Word Window Punch; I just love that it fit perfectly!  The small tree is Silver Glimmer Paper inked with a Sponge Dauber and Old Olive ink then punched out with the tree shape from the Merry Minis Punch Pack set.  The punch set of three mini holiday punches (little star, ornament, tree) is on the Carry-Over list from the 2012-13 Catalog but isn't shown in the current catalog.  However, you can see and purchase it in my online Stampin' Up! store HERE.  It works perfectly with this set!
