Cheerful Christmas CCMC327

Hooray, It's Thursday and time for another fun challenge from Create with Connie and Mary! This week we have a great sketch which uses a "tilted" panel which is so trendy these days in papercrafting!  Here's what I did:

I'm really enjoying this Cheerful Christmas set from the Holiday Catalog!  As you can see, the style is truly influenced by Nordic designs; done in Cherry Cobbler it really warms up the design and to me looks like needlework!  I stamped the smaller image on Whisper White and diecut it with an Oval Framelit.  I cut the plaid paper for the background and adhered it to a Sahara Sand card cut at 4.5" x 11", folded at the top then adhered the oval with Dimensionals.

Next I cut a strip of Sahara Sand 1/2" x 4-1/4 and adhered it with Dimensionals and Snail adhesive.  On a small piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock, I stamped the saying in VersaMark, heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder then adhered it with Dimensionals!  Viola, finished!

I made another card using a second background paper, also from the Trim the Tree Paper Stack.  I couldn't decide which one I liked better so stuck with my original one for the CWCM Thursday Challenge.  Tell me which one you like best... I just couldn't choose!!  (you can press the comment button below to leave your answer.)  Thanks!

Stamps:  Cheerful Christmas, Festival of Trees
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, VersaMark
Paper:  Trim the Tree Paper Stack; Sahara Sand, Whisper White and Cherry Cobbler cardstock
Accessories:  Ovals Framelits, Bitty Banners Framelits, Regals Candy Dots (Cherry Cobbler), White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Dimensionals, Glue Dots.

Here is the Sketch Challenge at Create with Connie and Mary this week:'
Isn't this a great sketch?  It's simple, easy and versatile!  We would love for you to join us this week at Create with Connie and Mary!!  Just go to the website and check out the guidelines, make your card and upload it online then link it on the challenge post at CWCM!  That's it!  We love to see what you make!

Christmas Cheer!

Are you working on your Christmas cards?  I'm making some as I go these days.  Here's one that is super quick and easy and easy to replicate using the lovely Christmas Cheer set in the 2014 Holiday Catalog

Yes, if you look in the 2014 Holiday Catalog you will see not only this set, but also this card (and two other sample using this set!  The Stampin' Up! catalogs have hundreds of samples using the stamps in the catalogs;  it's a great resource for ideas and project layouts too!  I basically copied this card; how easy is that!  And... just one stamp, Christmas Cheer, one Mossy Meadow inkpad and one Filagree Frame Textured Impressions Embossing Folder... Viola!  Done!  Oh, I did color five Rhinestones with a Cherry Cobbler Blendability marker and added them for some sparkle!  : )  (note:  the catalog sample was stamped in gold; I used Mossy Meadow ink instead)

You can see the 2014 Holiday Catalog online by clicking HERE.

Stampin' Up! has just released a 2014 Holiday Supplement filled with quick and easy project ideas which will be really useful for your gifting, card-sending and home decor needs!  Click HERE to see it!

Three Trees! CCMC 326

Oh, we have such a pretty Color Challenge today at Create with Connie and Mary!  The trio of Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow and Silver is such a beautiful combination!  I also used touches of white for my neutral.

I inked the tinsel stamp with silver ink then stamped on Mossy Meadow;  with a different tree inked with silver I stamped twice on Lost Lagoon (both stamps are from the Festival of Trees set).  These were then punched them out with the Tree Punch.  I cut the silver dotted paper with an Oval Framelit and adhered it to the Mossy Meadow card base, then placed torn Brushed Silver cardstock over the lower portion.

Next a layer of Lost Lagoon was diecut with the fifth largest (counting up from the smallest one) Oval Framelit, embossed with the Filigree Frame TIEF and  adhered with Dimensionals over the dotted white DSP layer, framing the background.  The sentiment from this set was stamped onto Whisper White, layered over a bit of Mossy Meadow Ribbon then adhered with Dimensionals.

Lastly I added several silver and snowflake sequins from the Frosted Sequins pack to complete the card..

Stamps:  Festival of Trees
Ink:  Encore Silver, Mossy Meadow
Paper:  Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, Whisper White cardstock.  All is Calm DSP
Accessories:  Tree Punch, Frosted Sequins Embellishments pack, Glue Dots, Filigree Frames Embossing Folder, Oval Framelits, Mossy Meadow Stitched Satin Ribbon, Big Shot.

Here again is the Color Challenge 326 for Create with Connie and Mary for this coming week!

Isn't this a beautiful color combo?  And if you  have the All is Calm DSP, you already have a head start on joining the challenge this week too, since these colors are in it!  So take a little time to come up with your own creation following the guidelines over at Create with Connie and Mary and join the fun!

While you're there, be sure to see what the other Designers Team members have created for this challenge too... they ARE creative!!

Thanks for visiting this week!  Come back soon for more stamping fun and hopefully, inspiration!

Happy Stamping!

Happy Birthday Sketch CCMC325

Thursday is the day for our Create with Connie and Mary Challenge and we have a great sketch to use for our project!  This one is simple and oh, so versatile!  I decided to use a star in my background in place of the circle and the Star Embossing Folder was perfect for adding "starry" texture to the background!

I took my color scheme from the Sweet Taffy Designer Paper; I love these bright colors for happy occasions like birthdays!  This card will be for a sweet child's birthday and I think he will enjoy the colors and the sparkle of the Gold Glimmer Paper stars!

I diecut the Daffodil with a Star Framelit then added the Paper Piercing.  Stampin' Up!'s piercing templates make it SO easy and I really like the additional texture the piercing adds.

Stamps:  Endless Birthday Wishes
Inks:  VersaMark
Paper:  Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie.  Sweet Taffy DSP.  Gold Glimmer Paper
Accessories:  White Embossing Powder, Eclectic Paper Piercing Pack, Paper Piercing tool, Stars TIEF, Star Framelits, small Star Punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.

Here again is the super sketch we have this week for CCMC325:

I can't wait to see what YOU do with this sketch!  It can be Clean and Simple or you can do something different and add more layers and embellishments, whatever appeals to you!

Hop on over to the Create with Connie and Mary blog to see what the other very creative members of the Challenge Design Team did with this sketch;  I'm always inspired by their work!  Then whip up your own design and upload it to the CCMC website; the guidelines for the challenge are all there too!

Thanks for visiting today!  Happy Stamping!

What's Special About October?

It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, that's what!  Time to get our check-ups if we haven't had one recently, be aware of signs, symptoms and what to do!  To help raise awareness, I made this little reminder with Stampin' Up!'s wildly popular Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlit Die!  (that's quite a title, isn't it!)

I used a Heart Framelit to cut out the Melon Mambo DSP, then cut the thin straps with my paper trimmer and adhered all with Mono Multi Liquid Glue (the tape adhesive doesn't hold it well because of the curvy shape of the box).

I found this sentiment in the Something to Say set and love it for this theme!  The little flower in the front is from the same set.  The butterfly is encrusted with Dazzling Diamonds; this combined with the Pearls and flower makes for quite the feminine look!

I didn't take a picture of the box back but I made a remembrance "ribbon" out of Melon Mambo cardstock to emphasize the Breast Cancer Awareness theme of the box.

Stamps:  Something to Say, Papillon Potpourri
Inks:  Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Pink Pirouette
Paper:  Melon Mambo print from Brights DSP Stack; Pink Pirouette, Whisper White cardstocks
Accessories:  Designer Label Punch, flower punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Strawberry Slush Baker's Twine, Heart Framelits, Big Shot, Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Stampin' Sponge.

Lynn Starzyl made a box for breast cancer awarenes which inspired me to come up with one of my own.  Thanks, Lynn.

Remember the special annual October Breast Cancer Project at Splitcoast Stampers of making cards for breast cancer patients at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.  You might want to join in this meaningful cause!

Thanks for visiting today!  Take care of yourself, friends!

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?

Well, it's Saturday so lots of college football games in the U.S. today!  I used my Curvy Keepsake Box Framelit to make these little treat boxes and decorated them for each of our large universities in Oklahoma; both are playing today!

The Oklahoma State University Cowboys are orange, black and white.  The cowboy hat was colored in dark gray (Basic Gray) even though it has a real blue-ish cast in the picture.  Go Pokes!

The University of Oklahoma is the Sooners.  I used Cherry Cobbler which is perfect for their crimson color.  The letters were diecut with the Little Letters Framelits.  Boomer Sooner!

I made both of these so that they can be opened to retrieve the treats inside.  The flap can be carefully lifted over the OU letters to open it; the Cowboy hat was cut out leaving a v-shaped flap on the bottom so it can be inserted down between the top flaps of the box and easily removed.

Other:  Little Letters Framelits, 2.5" Circle Punch, Decorative Dots TIEF, Paper Snips, Personal Paper Trimmer, Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  Cowboy hat from the YeeHaw set.

I just love this Curvy Keepsake Box Framelit!  I've seen so many creative ways stampers have decorated this box... it seems the variations are endless!   And the box itself is so easy to make it's ridiculous!

Hope you enjoy your weekend, football or not!  Happy Stamping!

Happy stamping!

Bootiful Joy! CCMC324

This week Create with Connie and Mary have a Color Challenge for us using  Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Baked Brown Sugar for our creations!

I decided to use a sweet favorite winter stamp called Bootiful Occasions; now this stamp could be used for many occasions in the winter as well as for a Christmas card!  Here are the steps in creating:
  • The background card is 8.5 x 11" Cherry Cobbler, folded in the center
  • Next a 4 x 5 1/4" layer of Baked Brown Sugar stamped with Whisper White using a Dotty Angles stamp
  • A diagonal layer of Garden Green/White stripe from the Trim a Tree DSP Stack with piece of Whisper White edging that was cut with the Small Scallops blade for the Stampin' Trimmer Rotary Addition.
  • Whisper White embossed with the Fun Frames rectangular frame and hand trimmed
  • Winter boot stamped with Memento Black ink and colored with Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities then hand trimmed
  • Another boot stamped then the top "fur" and one "ball" cut out and mounted with Dimensionals then treated to a layer of Dazzling Diamonds.
  • Embellished with a 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon bow (it started as Real Red then I colored it with a Cherry Cobbler Blendability) and Basic Pearls in the "snow".
Stamps:  Bootiful Occasions, Endless Wishes (sentiment), Dottie Angles
Ink:  White Craft, Cherry Cobbler
Paper:  Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Baked Brown Sugar; Trim The Tree Paper Stack
Accessories:  Fun Frames TIEF, Pearls, Paper Snips, 1/8" Real Red Ribbon (colored with Cherry Cobbler Blendability), Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Stampin' Trimmer Rotary Addition and Scallop Blade.

Here again is the color challenge from Create with Connie and Mary this week.

Curvy Keepsake Box Cuties!

Have you tried the new Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlit Die?  I bought it but didn't use it right away; when I did, I was surprised at how easy and FUN it is to use!  Addictive even?  lol!  Here are a couple of the first ones I made:

A pumpkin of course... after all, it's fall!  Pumpkin Pie cardstock stamped with Tangerine Tango ink using a stamp from the Work of Art set.  Pear Pizzazz ribbon, Old Olive leaf, curlycue and baker's twine.  Autumn Elements leaf too!  So simple!

This little penguin makes me think of Happy Feet : )  Box in black decorated with punches:  Modern Label, Large Oval and Owl Builder Punch.

The tag of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper was cut with a framelit that comes with the Curvy Keepsake Box Framelit and is adorned with an All is Calm Snowflake.  So fun and easy!  I can't wait to make more for Christmas treats, ornaments or gift holders!

Have a good weekend!  Happy Stamping!

Festival of Trees CCMC323

What a great sketch we have this week at Create with Connie and Mary!    I am so glad to open my Festival of Trees set for the first time and ink it up!  I thought this sketch would work well for a Christmas card!

I started with a Blackberry Bliss card base then overlaid it with Brushed Gold; this angled layout has been quite popular lately in papercrafting circles!  I added a banner of Blackberry Bliss then one of that beautiful Gold Striped Vellum!

Next I die cut a circle of the snowflake paper from the Trim The Tree DSP Paper Stack and stamped it with "joy".

I stamped the solid tree from the set in Blackberry Bliss then overstamped it with the tinsel in Encore Gold ink.  (Let it dry awhile or it will smear).  Next I punched it out with the Tree Punch and adhered it to the circle background, topping it with a Gold Glimmer star!  Scatter a few Frosted Sequin snowflakes around and done!

Stamps:  Festival of Trees, Endless Wishes
Ink:  Encore Gold; Blackberry Bliss
Paper:  Blackberry Bliss, Brushed Gold, Gold Vellum, Whisper White, Trim the Tree Paper Stack, Gold Glimmer Paper.
Accessories:  Circle Framelit, Tree Punch, Frosted Sequins Embellishments, Big Shot, Star Punch.

Here is the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary for the challenge this week:

Now we would love for you to join our challenge this week and make a card using this sketch!   Challenges are really fun and always interesting to see what you can do with them!  Go to Create with Connie and Mary to see what the other Challenge Team members did with this sketch then make yours and upload it to the challenge post!  We can't wait to see what you do with it!
