You Make the World a Better Place

Isn't this a great sentiment? and perfect to build a card around for a special person!

I love the Starburst Framelits and the Starburst Sayings set that coordinates with them in the Occasions 2014 catalog.  What a great pair!  Plus the Framelits can be used on an unlimited number of other images and sayings.

I'm so sad to see the Beautifully Baroque stamp retire.  I just didn't get to use it enough and I love that it coordinates with the Eastern Elegance DSP!  The scallops under the DSP are diecut with the Tasteful Trims Die which I will also miss... it makes such great edging designs.

Stamps:  Starburst Sayings, Beautifully Baroque*, Blessings from Heaven* (inside)
Inks:  Pool Party, Crushed Curry; inside:  Island Indigo
Paper:  Eastern Elegance DSP*, Whisper White, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana cardstocks
Accessories:  Starburst Sayings Framelits, Tasteful Trims XL Bigz Die*, Big Shot, Magnetic Cutting Plate, Basic Pearls.

Hexagons for Father CCMC300

Welcome to our Thursday Challenge at Create with Connie and Mary!   We are doing things a little differently this week; we're having a Design Team Blog Hop!! How fun!

Our Challenge this week is color:  use Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake and Basic Gray for our project!

I thought these colors would work well for a Father's Day card so I set to work.   I embossed both the Crumb Cake and Basic Gray layers with the Alphabet Press embossing folder.  Two strips of the Calypso Coral Chevron Ribbon were wrapped around the Crumb Cake layer before it was adhered to the Basic Gray card base.

I used the Six-Sided Sampler set to stamp three hexagons for the front Basic Gray layer;  this layer  was then adhered to the Crumb Cake with Dimensionals.  The embellishments use are two Pearls that were colored metallic silver with a Sharpie marker and a Basic Metal Button tied with Linen Thread.

The greeting was stamped with Happy Father's Day from the Delightful Dozen set; the ends of the cardstock were trimmed with the Hexagon Punch before attaching with Dimensionals.  Two Calypso Coral Candy Dots embellish it.

Stamps:  Delightful Dozen, Six Sided Sampler
Inks:  Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake, Basic Gray
Paper:  Whisper White, Basic Gray, Crumb Cake
Accessories:  Basic Metal Buttons, Basic Pearls, Subtles Candy Dots, Linen Thread, Calypso Coral Chevron Ribbon, Hexagon Punch, Alphabet Press Embossing Folder, Big Shot, Dimensionals, Glue Dots.

Here is the Color Challenge from Create with Connie and Mary this week:

We hope you will join us this week by making a card or project using these colors!  Then just upload your project someplace so we can see it online and link it to this Color Challenge Post on Create with Connie and Mary CCMC300.

Lattice Say Good-bye!

I know, bad pun, but I am very sad to see the Lattice Die retire.  It is more versatile than I could ever have imagined; just check Pinterest for some of the wonderful ideas out there!  My card today uses the Lattice together with the Window Frame Framelits... don't they combine beautifully?

The large flower is created using the Flower Shop set & Pansy Punch and the Petite Petals set & Punch.  I stamped them then used a Blender Pen to fill in with some of the same color. I used the Little Leaves Sizzlit and Pear Pizzazz cardstock to make a few leaves to tuck under the flowers.

The sentiment is stamped on a banner of Blushing Bride DSP laid across the bottom.  I added some  additional flowers inside the card.

Stamps:  Petite Petals, Flower Shop, Express Yourself *(hostess)
Ink:  Primrose Petals*, So Saffron, Basic Gray
Paper:  Blushing Bride DSP from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack; Soft Sky, Whisper White,  Pear Pizzazz cardstocks
Accessories:  Blender Pen, Petite Petals Punch, Pansy Punch, Lattice Die*, Window Frame Framelits, Little Leaves Sizzlit*, Polka Dot Embossing Folder, In Color Dahlias*,  Glue Dots, Snail Adhesive.

Baroque Elegance Anniversary

What an interesting (in a good way!) sketch we have today on Create with Connie and Mary!  I had to study it awhile to figure out how to bring this together using the stamps and paper I had chosen but here's what I came up with:

I wanted to use the Beautifully Baroque single stamp as a subtle background so I inked it with Smoky Slate, stamped it off once then stamped onto the cardstock.  For the horizontal elements, I used the coordinating Eastern Elegance DSP and diecut three using the little scalloped banner framelit from the set.  The sentiment is stamped in Basic Grey, stamped off once then onto Whisper White cardstock.

I stamped two butterflies, Crushed Curry ink on the same color cardstock, punched them out then adhered the centers together.  After finger-shaping them a strip of four Basic Pearls was added to embellish.  Other Pearls were added to each of the three elements.

Here is another version I did, only adding Brushed Silver leaves.  I like it but decided to go with the simpler version.  Do you ever make more than one version of a card before deciding on the final one?

Stamps:  Beautifully Baroque, Papillon Potpourri, Express Yourself (hostess) sets
Inks:  Smoky Slate, Crushed Curry, Basic Grey
Papers:  Eastern Elegance DSP; Smoky Slate, Crushed Curry, Whisper White cardstock.  Brushed Silver on version 2.
Accessories:  Basic Pearls, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Hearts a Flutter Framelit.  Little Leaves Sizzlet on version 2

Here is the CCMC299 sketch challenge this week from Create with Connie and Mary!  It's very simple yet can be interpreted in many creative ways!

How about you trying the sketch this week?  Just make your card with all Stampin' Up! supplies then upload it somewhere on the web and link it on Create with Connie and Mary's website.  That's it!

Be sure also to check out the cards of the other Challenge Team members.  They always make such wonderful cards!

You're Amazing! CCMC298

Ah, we have a lovely combination of colors this week for the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge this week:  Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango and Gumball Green!  All fresh, bright, cheerful.. all good!

The focal stamp on my card is from the "You're Amazing" set, which I really like but have under-used;  I thought it would work well for this card.  I inked the stamp border with the Gumball Green Marker and the words with Tangerine Tango then die-cut it with the largest Framelit in the Apothecary Accents set.  I pierced around the edge, then inked and stamped the "amazing" again, filling in the open spaces in the letters with the Daffodil Delight Marker.  Then it was cut out, ends rounded with a circle punch and adhered it with Dimensionals.

I die-cut just the ends of the Framelit again using Tangerine Tango and adhered that underneath the white to emphasize the shape.  A 5.25" x 4" layer of Whisper White cardstock was dry embossed with the Scallops Embossing Folder and adhered with Dimensionals to the front of a 5.5" x 4.25" card.

The larger flowers were stamped with Daffodil Delight on Whisper White then punched out with the coordinating Petals Punch.  The smaller flowers are punched with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.. love it!  It's one of my go-to tools!  The leaves are punched from Gumball Green.  (I'm going to miss this color when it retires in May!!)  The flowers and leaves were adhered with Glue Dots.

Stamps:  You're Amazing, Petite Petals
Inks:  Gumball Green, Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango Markers; Daffodil Delight pad
Paper:  Whisper White, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight cardstocks
Accessories:  Apothecary Accents Framelits, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Petite Petals Punch, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Paper Piercing Pack Essentials, Piercing Tool, Stampin' Pierce Mat, Scallop TIEF, Dimensionals, Glue Dots, Blender Pen, Snail Adhesive, Basic Pearls (colored with Sharpie Marker)

Isn't this a fun color combination?  We (the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge Team) would love to see what you would do with this color combo, so how about jumping in and trying this one this week?!  Just post it online then link it up at Create with Connie and Mary website.  (Stampin' Up! supplies only)

Thanks for joining me today!  I appreciate you visiting and welcome your comments too!

Take care and stamp when you can!

Spring Postage Due! CCMC297

There are signs of spring everywhere!  We've had some warm sunny days and the trees are budding out... so pretty when they're covered in little flowers!  This and more inspired me toward spring colors and flowers for my Challenge card for Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge today.

What an enjoyable sketch!  I used the Postage Due set, sponging the stamp with several colors before stamping.  Then I added a few smudges on the cardstock with the daubers and layered it onto Pumpkin Pie cardstock. The Eiffel Tower stamp in the set was stamped in Wisteria Wonder and punched out with the perfect Postage Stamp punch!

Some little spring-y flowers were scattered around and centered with small Basic Pearls.  Love those things!  Wisteria Wonder Chevron Ribbon strips extending from behind the panel and around the card is the finishing touch!  This card makes me think of enjoying the outdoors this time of years!  (Oh yes, and I would like to be in Paris in the springtime, too.  You?)

Stamps:  Postage Due set
Ink:  Wisteria Wonder, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Pumpkin Pie, Crumb Cake
Paper:  Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder
Accessories:  Wisteria Wonder Chevron Ribbon, Basic Pearls, Postage Stamp punch, Sponge Daubers, BoHo Blossoms Punch, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack

This is a fun and easy sketch today from Create with Connie and Mary!

Won't you jump in and join us?  Just use this sketch to make your card with Stampin' Up! products and upload it to the Create with Connie and Mary website on this sketch post!  We'd love to see what you create!  While you're there, also check out the cards of the other Challenge Team members... they are so talented!

Thanks for visiting today!  I hope you are having good weather where you are!!

Stamp when you can!

Blessings,

Margaret
