Four Feathers, Work of Art!

Another card with my current favorite set, Four Feathers!  Each feather is stamped onto a different color block stamped with a Work of Art stamp.  Gorgeous Grunge stamped across the card vertically.  "Yippee" is from the new YeeHaw photopolymer set.

The Gold Button and Gold Baker's Twine seemed a perfect fit with these colors and I wanted to add just a bit more sparkle but Rhinestones, even though I love them, just didn't work for me here.  Sooo, I took some Gold Glitz Dazzling Details and used my palette knife to smoosh (a technical term, I'm sure) just a small amount onto the Hello Honey and the Tangelo Twist blocks.  Hard to see in the pictures but a little sparkly in person.  : )   

If you look carefully you can see the gold glitz...

That's about it.  It was pretty easy and would have been fairly quick if I hadn't had to lay it aside for a couple of weeks and do other things before finishing it!  lol!

Forest Friends and Picture This Card

Today's card is made for Blogger's Challenge # 144, a sketch challenge.  Here is the sketch our challenge "mom" Lisa gave us to use.  I thought it was a difficult sketch but it could be I just had so many interruptions while working on this that I couldn't get my mojo going for long at a time!!


For my card today, I chose the flower pattern from the Tall Tales Designer Series Paper.  I haven't actually used it before but have always liked it and I like the color scheme of Brilliant Blue, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive and So Saffron.  I chose to make the card base of So Saffron and Brilliant Blue for the full layer.  I can't tell you how long it's been since I've used Brilliant Blue but I LOVE it!  I ran it through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder to give it some fun texture.

I decided to use a heart shape instead of the half-round, so I stamped the heart image from the Sweetheart set onto a So Saffron dotted piece of the Tall Tales DSP and cut it out with my Paper Snips. 

I cut a strip of the fun flowers from the DSP and layered it onto Rose Red, then tied a grosgrain ribbon toward the right end.  Then I stamped the owl from the Forest Friends set in Chocolate Chip onto yet another pattern of this DSP, a subtle Saffron stripe and punched it out with the 1" circle punch.  This was layered onto the 1 1/4" circle punch of Old Olive and applied to the card with a Dimensional.

I chose to use the right horizontal strip as my greeting piece;  I stamped the greeting from Picture This, the Level 1 Hostess Set in the Occasions Mini, in VersaMark onto Rose Red cardstock, added White Embossing Powder and heated it with the Heat Tool.  This was punched out with the Modern Label Punch
 and adhered with Dimensionals.

Fancy Flower Tag from Two Tag Die

One of the cool dies for the Big Shot in the Stampin' Up! catalog is the Bigz Two Tag Die, new this year.  You get two attractive and useful tags together on this one die:  one with a rounded scallop top and pierced "stitching" and the other, wider with a score line and a slit to tuck it up into.

The tag pictured uses the scallop top tag, even though you can't really see it in the picture.  I wheeled across the bottom in Pretty in Pink Ink and the Very Vintage wheel, then added the Happy Easter from the Well Scripted set (Occasions Mini Catalog) punched with the Large Oval and layered on a Certainly Celery Scalloped Oval.
The flower was made by rolling a strip of tissue wrapping paper with the same Very Vintage wheel in pink ink, folding it into eight layers and punching it with the Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch.  A brad was inserted into the center then the layers lifted up individually and "fluffed" with my fingers.  The green leaves beneath the flowers are actually punched from Certainly Celery cardstock with the Five Petal Flower Punch.  Gotta' love all those great and useful punches!  They make great projects and make them go faster!!

A 1/8" hole was punched in the top and a length of the luscious pink Taffeta Ribbon inserted and tied.

This tag would be great on a gift bag or package, or any number of other uses!

3-25-10  Edited to add: Here is are two bags embellished with the Sweet Pea Designer Paper Pack and the tags I posted above.  These were designed by my talented friend and fellow demo, Gayle Enouen.  Aren't they gorgeous?!!  She gave me the one on the right!!  Love it!!

Garden from the Heart with Herbs

Today's card is another one using Garden from the Heart, a lovely set from the 2010 Occasions Mini Catalog.  The stamp image of herbs drying on the line is the focal point.

The color scheme is Rich Razzleberry and Barely Banana.  The herbs are stamped in Basic Brown on Whisper White cardstock; soft color is added with Stampin' Write Markers.  I used a Blender Pen with pale Almost Amethyst ink to add a faint shadow around the herbs.  The lower corner was torn off, the edges distressed with the Cutter Kit and the edges sponged with banana ink.

A square of Rich Razzleberry had each corner punched with the Scallop Edge Corner Punch before the image layer was adhered.  A knot of the gorgeous Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon was added to the upper left corner.

In this set is a stamp which fits the Curly Label Punch!  I love it when our stamps and punches work together!  This "label" was stamped in Razzleberry and the bird colored with a Creamy Caramel Marker.  A line of Barely Banana was added with the marker just inside the outline of the label.  I punched it out with the Curly Label Punch and adhered it with a Dimensional.

Rich Razzleberry cardstock is the base; a layer of Barely Banana was run through the Big Shot machine in the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder to give these deeply embossed dots!  It's amazing how much texture and dimension the embossing folders give!

On the inside I layered white cardstock and stamped it with the another curly label frame, this one from the Vintage Label set which is free with a $50. purchase during Sale-A-Bration.  Inside it I stamped the "Happy Birthday" that also came with the set.  The garden gloves were stamped in the lower right corner of the card.

Garden from the Heart, Two Tags Die Card

Think Spring!!  That's the theme of this week's Blogger's Challenge #143!  Yesterday was the first day of spring, and in Oklahoma we celebrated by ... having a BLIZZARD!!  Yup, howling winds and blowing snow, the whole bit!  It has quit snowing today but it's still cold; tomorrow is supposed to be better, YAY!!

What's more indicative of spring than planting, flowers and butterflies!  I love this new set from the 2010 Occasions Mini Catalog:  Garden from the Heart!  This tag, cut with the Big Shot and the Two Tags Die from Whisper White cardstock, makes a perfect background for the straw hat from the set (stamped in Basic Brown ink).  Using the Aquapainter and Soft Suede ink, I added color to the hat, Regal Rose color to the ribbon and Old Olive to the leaves and stems.  The flowers were colored with the Rose Red Stampin' Write Marker.

At the scalloped end of the tag, I added a punched flower of Regal Rose and Rose Red centered with a So Saffron Brad.  A half-flower of Old Olive is tucked underneath for some leaves.

The card base is Regal Rose, topped with a layer of Sahara Sand cardstock run through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and a bottom edge of Whisper White treated with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch.  I love how that punch adds such a crispness to a design!  A 1-1/8" vertical strip of Sahara Sand Designer Paper from the hostess Paper Pack III (free with a $150. or more order) covered by a strip of Regal Rose Grosgrain Ribbon was added to the left side before the tag was layered on top.  The So Saffron butterflies were cut with the Stampin' Up! Beautiful Wings Embosslit Die which cuts and embosses all at the same time!  Love that!!

Our schools here had Spring Break this past week and we had pretty weather punctuated by the blizzard on Saturday!  Crazy!  I had company this week so I'm a little behind on my posting!  Thanks for visiting again!

Fancy Flower, With All My Heart, BC 142

Here's another clean and simple card made with the new Fancy Flower Punch, With All My Heart and Well Scripted stamp sets.  I posted a similar one a few weeks ago; this is one I used for my last workshop.  I love the soft spring-y colors of pinks, yellows and greens.  Can't wait for the spring flowers to bloom here in Oklahoma!

The card base is Pretty in Pink with layers underneath the flower of Regal Rose, Whisper White and Certainly Celery.  The open side of the card was treated with the new Pinking Hearts Border Punch.  (I just {love} the new punches Stampin' Up! has for us in the Occasions Mini Catalog!! ).  On the inside edge, I placed a 1/2" strip of one of the patterns from the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper.  When the card is closed, it gives a colorful edge to the card.  It's amazing how a little touch of the DSP can add so much to a project!

The Barely Banana flower was first stamped with the same color ink and then punched out with the Fancy Flower Punch.  I snipped between the petals a bit then curled them with my bone folder  and shaped them with my fingers.  For the center I added a Regal Rose flower centered with a small Pretty in Pink flower, both punched with the Boho Blossoms Punch.  I also snipped between their petals and shaped them with my fingernails.  (Those acrylic nails should be useful for something, lol!)  You can't see it in the picture so much, but the inner blossoms also curl up some and give nice dimension.  A gold Mini Brad attaches them together.

The sentiment was stamped in Old Olive ink with the "Happy Birthday" from the Well Scripted stamp set.

Easter Chocolate Bunny!

That little chocolate bunny you used to find in your Easter basket is now a rubber stamp!  How fun is that?!  It isn't part of a set but a single stamp and inexpensive to boot!  The Chocolate Bunny stamp is found in the Occasions Mini Catalog with the "a la carte" stamps on the very last page, 43. You NEED this stamp...I did!  lol!


Laura Lipe and I did a one-on-one Easter/Spring swap.  This is Laura's adorable card; she used the Chocolate Bunny stamp on Close to Cocoa in Chocolate Chip ink then cut it out and adhered to  Whisper White; this was then layered on Old Olive. 

Laura used the Cottage Wall Designer Paper layered on Old Olive on two panels, making an interesting layout.  The card base is Orchid Opulence cardstock.

The "Happy Easter" is from the beautiful Well Scripted stamp set (eight stamps) from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  It is stamped in Rich Razzleberry and punched out with the Designer Label Punch.  Rich Razzleberry punched with the Curly Label Punch is layered behind the sentiment for depth and contrast.

Sweet Pea Paper & Felt Card

Here's another project with the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack from the Occasions Mini Catalog.  This time it's a card using the paper for the background and the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt embellishments.  So ever-lovin' cute together!  And it's quick and no-stress because the products are already coordinated for you!

I used Sage Shadow cardstock for the card because it coordinated well with the teal in the Designer Paper.  Rose Red cardstock is layered over that then the Sweet Pea DSP.  I simply selected three matching or similar Sweet Pea Stitched Felt items and added them to the front of the card with Mini Glue Dots. 

The sentiment is stamped with Thinking of You from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set, punched out and layered on a Modern Label Punch then adhered at the top.  A strip of Pumpkin Pie cardstock was treated with the Pinking Hearts Border Punch and tucked under the DSP then a band of Sage Shadow 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon wrapped around and a small knot added with a Mini Glue Dot to complete the card.

On Board Bird Book

Three On Board (chipboard) Books appear for the first time in the current 2010 Occasions Mini Catalog:  Heart, Scallop Circle and Bird Book.  The Heart and Scallop Circle are about 6" in diameter and the bird book is 8 1/4" x 3 3/8" which makes them a great size for a mini album, keepsake or altering.  They appear on pg. 34 of the mini catalog and are only $4.95 for a set of eight with a ball chain included!  What a great buy!  And you can use them all together for a mini scrapbook, or use them singly for other purposes such as banners, wreaths, home decor, chair hangers for teas or luncheons and no telling what YOUR creativity can come up with.


Today I've used the bird chipboard to make a door knob hanger.  First I covered it with the beautiful pink with butterflies paper from the Sweet Pea Designer Paper Pack using my Stampin' Up! Glue Stick; then I sanded the edges.  A length of luscious silky Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon runs through the pre-punched hole and ties to form a hanger for a door, shelf or wall.

Several of the delightful Sweet Pea Stitched Felt embellishments encircle the bird's neck and a couple of extra butterflies die cut from Barely Banana cardstock with the Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit add to the butterfly images of the designer paper.  There, done!  And easy to boot!

Spring Sweet Treat!

Last week we had our "Stamp Therapy" meeting, five good friends who are Stampin' Up! demos!  We have such a great time sharing, problem solving, planning and stamping!  That is one of the greatest benefits of stamping and being a demo:  the friendships that you develop and enjoy!

Today's card was our Make 'n Take for the meeting, brought by Jann McCollom.  Isn't this just the cutest thing?!!  We all loved it!  It's another great way to use those wonderful little heart-shaped treat cups!

The bottom front of the card opens and you can stamp your greeting inside.  It is held closed by a Mini Library Clip with a ribbon adhered to it with a Mini Glue Dot.

There is a "trap door" on the upper back of the card to allow the candy to be removed without damaging the card.  The bird on the top is adhered to a tab on  top of the slider that holds the candy in.  You can see a picture of the back candy access below.

Isn't this creative!!  We all oooh-ed and ahhh-d over it and were thrilled to get to make one!  I'm sorry I don't have a template for cutting this card; I would share it if I did.

Meet the Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch!

Have you met the new Extra Large Fancy Flower Punch from Stampin' Up?  It was introduced in the 2010 Occasions Mini Catalog in January and is a BIG sister to the flower punches we already have!  At over 2" in diameter, it puts the other flower punches in the shade!  Gotta love it!  Like flowers in the spring, paper flowers are popping up in papercrafting projects everywhere you look and this punch is a fabulous tool for creating some fun and gorgeous flowers of your own!

The large flower on this card was made like the one on the box I posted here.  I twice stamped the large image from the With All My Heart stamp set on Pretty in Pink cardstock with Rose Red ink.  These were punched out with the Extra Large Fancy Flower punch, snipped with Paper Snips then curled with a Bone Folder and fingers.  I layered the two together with a Dimensional.  Next the small flower from the set was stamped and punched out with the Trio Flower Punch, a Gold Brad added to the center and attached to the base flowers with another Dimensional.

The flowers were attached to layers of Whisper White, So Saffron and Certainly Celery, which reflect the colors in the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper.  The front side edge of the card was punched with the Pinking Hearts Border punch; a 1/2" strip of the Sweet Pea Designer Paper peeks out from underneath the back edge of the card back.  "Happy Birthday" is from the Well Scripted set in the Occasions Mini.

Petal Card Die Box II

Here is another box made with the Petal Card Die for the Big Shot diecutting machine.  These boxes are so fun and easy to make... you really need this die!  I'm really having fun exploring the ways to use it!

The box was constructed from four petal card  diecuts of Orchid Opulence cardstock.  {see instructions here}  Each of the four sides was covered with either Certainly Celery or So Saffron cardstock then a layer of the delicate polka dot pattern from the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper.


I made paper flowers from coordinating colors of So Saffron, Pretty in Pink and another piece of the dotted DSP used for the background.  The new Extra Large Fancy Flower punch was used for the So Saffron flower.  Before punching, I stamped the cardstock with the new Fine Flourish stamp from the Occasions Mini in So Saffron ink.  I snipped the petals further in toward the center and curled each petal with my bone folder.  The BoHo Blossoms Punch was used to punch the second flower out of the same polka dot DSP; I did the same clipping of petals and bending the paper petals with my fingers.  The pink center was punched with the same BoHo Blossoms punch, curled and then all three flowers put together with a So Saffron Brad from the Rich Regals Brads assortment.  The flower was then attached to both the front and back of the box with Mini Glue Dots (gotta love those things!)


 
Certainly Celery cardstock, prestamped with the Fine Flourish stamp in celery, were punched out with the Five Petal Flower Punch, cut into individual petals, creased down the center and used for the leaves.  They were adhered with Mini Glue Dots.

Luxurious Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon was used for the bow and tie around the box for the finishing touch. (pic. 4, side view)

Sweetheart Treat Card

Happy Valentine's Day to you!  Hope it was a good day for each and everyone!

I just got in from a four day trip to Phoenix AZ last night and have one more little Valentine to share with you before this day passes; it's made with the Heart Treat Cups and the Sweetheart stamp set.  This one is so simple; it doesn't have a folded card back and can be handed out as the Valentine and treat in one.  There is a tag that opens in the back so the candy can be extracted without tearing up the card also!

Real Red cardstock is the base, then the heart was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock and punched out with the Full Heart Punch.  The Heart Treat Cup had some adhesive applied to the back side of the white, just enough to secure the heart cup, which was then inserted from the back side of the white layer.  This was then laid aside.

A 3" square of Real Red cardstock just 1/4" larger than the white was punched with the 1" Circle Punch and a greeting stamped on it.  This was adhered to the white layer using Snail adhesive across the bottom only and one Dimensional at each of the top corners.  This gives some room to easily insert a tag between the layers.

A tag was cut from Pink Passion cardstock and a Round Tab Punch in the same color was adhered to the top.  A "flag" of Red Striped Grosgrain was stapled to the top edge after  "just for you" from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set was stamped on the tab.  This tab was slipped between the layers after the cup was filled with Valentine M&Ms.

This was a quick and easy project, and can be adapted for many occasions such as table or shower favors, for example.  It's really fun to color coordinate them with the candy to be used in them!

Valentine Sweetheart Treat Card

Today being Friday, it's Blogger's Challenge day, and today's challenge is VALENTINE!  Not that we haven't all been churning out all sorts of sweet notes and every type of candy holder imaginable, but since THE day is just two days away, it's almost our last chance to  wish everyone a Happy Valentine's Day for 2010 and give you some candy (for your eyes, lol)!!

I used the wonderful Sweetheart stamp set which coordinates with the Heart Treat Cups to make my Valentine today!  (Both items are in the Occasions Mini Catalog.)  These are so much fun to make and to give, and see the reaction!  (like, how do I get that candy out!, lol!)  Love those Valentine M&Ms, so I keyed my color scheme to go with them:  red, pinks, white, yum!  It's finished off with a sash of the beautiful White Organza Ribbon!

"Sending Love" with a Petal Card Die Box

Today is another chapter in using the Petal Card Die!  You can actually make a 2.5" "cube" box with it!  Cool, hmm??

Cut four Petal Card diecuts with the Big Shot and the Petal Card Die in cardstock of your choice.  Trim one "petal" scallop off each diecut at the score line (A).  Lay the diecuts face down on your work surface then overlap the scallop on the side opposite of where the scallop was removed onto the straight edge of the die cut (see picture B).  Adhere them with Mono Adhesive, Glue Stick or Sticky Strip.  This will give you a line of four petal cards glued together.  (C)

 Turn this over and decorate the sides of your box while it is flat; it's much easier now than later!  : )  Then crease all the score llines and assemble your box by adhering the last scallop and straight edge.  You're almost finished!

Crease the score lines to make the bottom of your box then fold these scallops in like you close a four flap box (half of each flap will be showing, see pic on left below).  You may add a little adhesive to the flaps now if you wish but it will hold some weight even without glue. Now set the box right side up and crease the top flaps and fold in the same manner.  Add a beautiful ribbon such as the Pink Satin Ribbon from the Occasions Mini Catalog, and Viola!  You're finished!  

Now tuck some delicious treat or small but special gift inside, tie on a bow and you're ready for the occasion!  Anyone would be delighted to receive such an enchanting little box with a treasure inside!

Great for shower, party or wedding favors also!

Petal Card Die: Page Corner Bookmarks

Here's another quick and useful project to add to my adventures with the Petal Card Die... a corner bookmark!  I love these bookmarks that sit on the corner of the page, and this one even has the addition of a tab for easy on and off!

I used Melon Mambo Designer Series Paper for my bookmark, cutting a 4 7/8" square to run through my Big Shot with the Petal Card die.  I used a Cutting Plate and a shim (a piece of cardstock) underneath my die, the die, the paper on top of the die then my Crease Pad on top of the paper.  This gave me a very nice cut and score lines.  Each machine is calibrated a little bit differently, so try yours out to see what combination you need to get the perfect cut and score.

Fold up the bottom scallop toward the inside of the bookmark and adhere; then fold in the scallop to your left and adhere also.  The top and right scallops should be folded in and adhered only to each other where they overlap.  Punch a tab out with the Round Tab Punch (I used cardstock for my tab but you could also use the opposite side of the DSP for a pretty effect) and adhere it to the right side with the tab extending from the right of the bookmark.

For the finishing touch, you can cut and punch out a fairly small image or you could use an appropriate sentiment like "Thinking of You"  and layer it on punch-out before adhering it to your bookmark.  On the Melon Mambo bookmark, I have used the "Friend" heart from the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set and punched it out with the Full Heart Punch!  Easy-peasy!  It's not even layered!

I've also included a couple of others that I made for samples  I have another one that i seemed to have not photographed yet but will add it later.

The second bookmark (Lavender) is embellished with the bunny from the Eggcoutrements set; the third (More Mustard) bookmark uses the Circle Circus set and would be a nice choice for a guy.

Mini Milk Carton from Occasions Mini Catalog

Hi there!  I've made another of these Mini Milk Cartons.  They are so easy and fun to make, and so cute.  They can be "dressed up" in so many ways and filled with treats, trinkets or tiny exciting gifts!  What fun!

Do you ever have trouble coming up with a project or design?  One way to get over the hurdle of not "feeling the mojo" is to have an inspiration book.  Do you have one?  Do you have a Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog?  Well then, you DO have an inspiration book!  There are literally hundreds of full-color pictures of artisan projects in that book!  Just pick one and make it!  Now you may not have everything used in the sample but you can substitute something you do have:  different stamp set, colors of cardstock, embellishments... just use the picture as a "jumping off place" to kick start your creativity!  Oh, and if you want to see the list of stamping supplies used for any project in any of the Stampin' Up! catalogs, just click here and then bookmark this web page for future reference.

This milk carton was copied from page 23 of the Occasions Mini Catalog.  I duplicated almost everything about it except that I didn't have the element from the Eggcellent Eggs Kit so I just substituted some Designer Series Paper in the same celery color.  I wanted to show you how easy it is to use the catalog samples for inspiration when you're "mojo" has temporarily gone on vacation {lol!} and you want/need to make a handstamped item.  These are simple and easily duplicated whether you need one or two dozen!

Valentine Mini Milk Carton

I've been working on the projects for my next Thursday's Valentine stamp event  Here is a sneak peek of one of the projects that we'll be doing.   It is die cut with one of the terrific new products in the Occasions Mini Catalog, the Stampin' Up! exclusive Mini Milk Carton die.  Isn't this little thing just too cute?!  And it hold a generous treat of M&Ms, sweetheart candy, jelly beans... you get the idea.  The die will also cut Window Sheets or Vellum to make these cartons; wouldn't that be a fun idea for party or shower favors, wedding or dinner guests, Valentine or Easter giving .. your imagination can come up with no end of possibilities for decorating these or using them!


For this box I used Pretty in Pink cardstock wheeled with the I {love} Love Jumbo Wheel for the box and the small flower print from the Sending Love Designer Series Paper for the band.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes (if you don't have that set, you need to order it during Sale-A-Bration; it's indispensible!!) stamped in Real Red onto Very Vanilla, layered onto Chocolate Chip and Pretty in Pink oval punch-outs to coordinate with the Sending Love Designer Paper.

The carton is also embellished with a Real Red flower punched with the Five Petal Flower Punch and embellished with a circle punch of DSP; this is then attached with Mini Glue Dots to the top of the carton.

The other box done also in pink and embellished with a red, pink and vanilla flower print (and glittery!) band was made by my friend Connie Stewart.  Isn't it just adorable?  Thanks for the inspiration, Connie!
