Swallowtail Butterfly Resist

Well, no, you need not resist this Swallowtail stamp... it's just too fabulous!  Even some of my friends who didn't think they liked it because of it's size have fallen for it once they put stamp to ink to paper!  But we're talking technique here today, as in "embossing resist technique", not preferences.  : )

I love the monochromatic colors of this card!  Almost everything is Pool Party, one of our delicious 2011-2013 In Colors!  So light and refreshing it is!  The Swallowtail is stamped in VersaMark onto a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Pool Party cardstock then embossed with Pool Party Embossing Powder (#129398, $4.75, p. 12 Spring). To bring out the design more, I then sponged it with Pool Party ink; you can see the "shadow" behind the butterfly that results from the sponging and makes the image "pop"!  TIP:  Be sure to wipe the embossing with a tissue to remove any ink that may remain from the sponging process.

The luscious Pool Party 1/4" Satin Ribbon and button are from the free (with $50 purchase) Sale-a-Bration Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack.  The button was tied with Pool Party Baker's Twine before attaching to the ribbon.  

The "make a wish" sentiment is from the Sweet Essentials set of 8 (#126457).  I stamped it in Island Indigo on Pool Party cardstock then punched it out with the Modern Label Punch  then popped it up on Dimensionals.

TIP:  To add more depth and interest to a monochromatic card, layer the stamped cardstock onto a full card (8-1/2" x 5-1/2", folded in half) of the same color.  It adds so much.  Try it and see!

Collage Curios, Sunshine and Sprinkles!

I love the bright colors in this Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Paper print (Spring 2013 Catalog), and the Basic Grey (also in the print) makes a great contrasting background for them.

The grey layer was dry embossed with the Vine Embossing Folder (free during Sale-a-bration with a $50. purchase) to give great texture.  I then drug the Craft White Ink Pad over it in places to highlight that texture!

The round medallion in the center was stamped with three stamps from the Collage Curios set:  first the tiny script in Daffodil Delight, then the laurel wreath in Lucky Limeade, lastly the hot air balloon in Melon Mambo.  This was punched out with the 1" Circle Punch and adhered to a large Soda Pop Top that had been somewhat flattened in my Big Shot.

 I added a tiny Pearl to each side of round image, then layered it on the color polka dots from the Sunshine and Sprinkles DSP from the Spring Catalog.  A half Doily and strip of Melon Mambo 3/8" Striped Organdy Ribbon finishes off the cardfront.

Our weather has been spring-like here for the last week or so, but we are forecast to have more winter-like weather return this weekend.  We'll say good-bye to spring for awhile, knowing it WILL return soon but in the meantime, I think I will stamp with bright colors!  : )

Madison Avenue - Two Versions

At the Dallas Regional, Shelli Gardner presented a very simple but attractive card made with the Madison Avenue set available during SALE-A-BRATION for FREE with a $50. order.  I really liked it because it could be used for a guy card, and aren't we always looking for good masculine designs?

This is basically Shelli's card using different colors.  It only uses two stamps, the design stamp from Madison Avenue, and a greeting stamp, this one is the "Happy Birthday" from From the Heart set.  After I had completed it, I thought about adding a little embellishment...

Brads?  No, I had already put it together with Dimensionals, so I took my Silver Stampin' Dazzle Marker (#128978, carryover from Holiday Catalog) and painted some Pearls; they looked like pewter when I finished so I added three of them to the mosaics.

I was pleased with the result.  (Card base is Sahara Sand, top layer is Crumb Cake.  Inks used are Island Indigo, Crumb Cake and Raspberry Ripple)  Then I thought about making a version in more feminine colors (this whole process was taking on a life of it's own, lol!)

"Celebrate" greeting is from the Feeling Sentimental SAB set. ..hmm, how could I embellish this one?  

The little four-petal flower punch from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack (#118309, Annual Catalog p. 183) is the very shape of this stamp image!  I punched out the same cardstock as the inks used, centered them with the tiniest Pearls from the package and adhered one to the center of each stamped image.  Really punches up the look (lol, pun not intended)...what do you think?

And these pearls are so small that there will be no problem mailing this card to a friend!
 
The color scheme is from CCMC Challenge #242:  use Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals and Summer Starfruit for your project.

Happy Hello Simply Sent Treat Boxes!

One of the fun things about Stampin' Up! events is that demonstrators make gifts to give to friends, downline, and upline.  Just seeing the creativity is even better than the chocolate and candy treats most of these contain (seriously!!)  They also are great inspiration for making treat containers for other occasions too!

 

I want to share a couple today made with the Happy Hello Simply Sent Kit available during Sale-A-Bration free with a $50. order!  This is one I made for gifting at the Dallas Stampin' Up! Regional and filled with gum, chocolate kisses and mini candy bars.  So easy to package using the new 5" x 11-1/2" Gusseted Cellophane Bags from the Spring Catalog. 

Love these cards and the different creations I've seen with them (did an internet search).  This little box is easy to make using the ingredients from the kit, the Simply Scored Board for scoring, of course, and the Paper Trimmer.  A little Sticky Strip and they're done!  I added the Riding Hood Red leaf stem diecut with the Leaves Sizzlet and the Big Shot.  The Riding Hood Red Taffeta ribbon is retired Stampin' Up! but was so right for the gifts that I just had to use it!

Connie made these treat boxes for the Regional.  She made a similar box, decorated it and filled it with Little Debbie Strawberry Shortcake!  Then she went a step further and used the envelope, cut off the color printed flap, adhered it to the bagalope she made from the remainder of the envelop and decorated it with the Oh Hello set from the Spring Catalog.  These have had Ghirardelli Squares (more chocolate, umm!) in them!

Happy Birthday, Cupcake!

I just received the Patterned Occasions Sale-a-Bration stamp set a few days ago.  What a cute set and at a great price....FREE... with a $50. purchase of Stampin' Up! products!  I thought the cupcake would work great for my Technostamper's Sketch Challenge 252 card also.

I used the Patio Party Designer Series Paper and the colors of Baja Breeze, Primrose Petals, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White and Midnight Muse from that paper.  The little cupcake from the set worked great for the focal point in the sketch.

I used Stampin' Write Markers to ink up the cupcake before stamping on Whisper White.  I omitted the words, then later inked them and stamped on Summer Starfruit cardstock.

The Primrose Petals was dry embossed with the Polka Dots Embossing Folder and Big Shot. The cupcake paper was adhered to a layer of Midnight Muse that had one edge treated with the Scallop Border Punch.

I added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the cupcake icing and heart before layering it over the Primrose Petal Scallop Circle and Baja Breeze circle that had been pierced using a circle template from the Festive Paper Piercing Template Pack.  I love those paper piercing templates!

Stampin' Up! Dallas Regional 2013

I just returned yesterday from a fun weekend in Dallas with my Stampin' Up! buddies attending the Dallas Regional Stampin' Up! meeting!  Lots of fun, inspiration, stamping and opportunities to learn, renew friendships and make new friends too! 

Eager demonstrators waiting for the doors to open into the ballroom where the Regional meeting was held!

 

Over 600 Stampin' Up! demonstrators and some guests were in attendance!  Presenters were Shelli Gardner, co-founder of Stampin' Up!, Carrie Cudney, Shannon West, Holly Linford and Donna Griffith, all from the home office.  There were also a number of demonstrators from the area who demonstrated five minute "WOW" projects too!   We listened, cheered, stamped, swapped, ate, won prizes, shared chocolate and celebrated Stampin' Up!'s 25th Anniversary with a super-delicious cupcake treat!  It was a good day of learning, creating, sharing and inspiration!

There were LOTS of sample boards for our inspiration and photo-ops!

More Amore Loving Heart

I'm really having fun using the More Amore Designer Paper from the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog, along with coordinating stamps and accessories, including one Sale-a-Bration product!

 I used this sheet of Designer Paper that already has a quote printed on it; I simply framed it on a Pool Party card layered with Basic Black. 

I cut this heart out of another sheet of paper in the More Amore package then layered it onto Pool Party cardstock and cut it out.  After adding a sash of Real Red 3/8" Stitched Ribbon, I added the heart with a Dimensional then added the Pool Party button (from the Sycamore Street Ribbons and Buttons Pack, a Sale-a-Bration premium item).

I punched or cut out several other hearts from that additional sheet of More Amore Paper and added them to accent the focal message.  Oh yes, the border along the bottom was trimmed out of another sheet from the More Amore paper.  The More Amore, the better!  lol!

I used the CCMC-OCC1 Color Challenge of Pool Party, Primrose Petals, Real Red and Basic Black for the color scheme of my card today.  This paper was perfect for it!

Feeling Sentimental, Again...

I really like the images in this set and couldn't resist another card, this time using the vintage bicycle and the sentiment included in the set:  "Celebrate".  I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest although mine ended up different.  This is a versatile card which could be used for quite a variety of occasions!

 

In addition to the Feeling Sentimental set, I used the flower from the "Oh Hello" Spring Catalog set.  I inked it up with Stampin' Write Markers in Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade and stamped all around the vintage bicycle.   This layer was then dry embossed with the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder and the Big Shot machine.

The card base is Daffodil Delight cardstock; this view shows the flower stamped on the inside of the card.  I love how spring-y this card looks!  It's cold here today so that really brightened up my stamp room, lol!  

I stamped a narrow strip of Whisper White with the "Celebrate" inked in Rich Razzleberry.  I cut "fish tail" ends on the banner using my Square Punch, shaped it with my fingers, then added it to the top with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I threaded one of the smaller Faceted Buttons with Calypso Coral Baker's Twine, tied a bow, then added it to the banner with Glue Dots.

Just one more pic to show the Basic clear Rhinestone in the center of the wheel; I used a black Sharpie marker to color it beforehand and it still has a bit a sparkle!  You can also see the embossing along the bottom edge.

Feeling Sentimental? Hello!

Feeling Sentimental was the first set that caught my eye when I opened the spring Sale-a-Bration brochure, probably because I really like vintage images!

Feeling Sentimental is one of the stamps/products which you will be able to choose FREE during Stampin' Up!'s Sale-a-Bration when making a $50. Stampin' Up! purchase from January 22 to March 22.  I LIKE FREE, don't you?  Love this British phone booth and the other two images of the ferris wheel and a vintage bicycle!!

The booth was stamped in (c)Stampin' Up! 1990-2013  I came back later and used a Sponge Dauber and Summer Starfruit ink to add some light inside and around the booth.  A Blender Pen and Island Indigo Ink adds color to the booth and Crumb Cake ink grounds the image.

In this picture you can see five SAB sneak peeks:  a strip of Island Indigo cardstock was dry embossed with the Big Shot and the new (1) SAB Vine Street Embossing Folder.  The "hello" tag is from the (2) Pretty Petites Stamp set and was punched with the SAB (3) Petite Curly Label Punch (not shown).  Love it!  A (4) Raspberry Ripple Sycamore Street Button is tied down with Island Indigo Baker's Twine.  Last is the beautiful (5) Sycamore Street Designer Paper in Summer Starfruit color which is used for the banner underneath the booth image.

The card base is Crumb Cake with the overlay of Island Indigo; the booth was stamped onto Very Vanilla cardstock.

My Little Valentine Candy Bar Treat Holder

Here's an idea for using one of the current Stampin' Up! Valentine specials:  A delightful candy bar treat holder made with products from the Sealed with Love Simply Sent Kit and the My Little Valentine stamp set!

The Sealed with Love kit is FREE when you purchase the exclusive My Little Valentine stamp set which is only available for order until January 21!  This kit can be seen in the Holiday 2012 Catalog on page 35 with a list of contents, which includes 10 precut double-sided envelopes and 10 notecards in two designs, along with Baker's Twine, Dimensionals and printed paper "buttons".  I folded one of the notecards in half, added "Just because" (new vintage Sale-a-Bration stamp) and will use this to tuck in a note when giving it to a friend.

The chocolate bar inside was wrapped in a Pool Party print from the new Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper... which is a Sale-a-bration Sneak Peek!  (Sale-a-Bration begins January 22!)  A tag stamped with one of the stamps in the My Little Valentine set, layered on Pool Party and a new Sale-a-Bration button was tied on with Real Red Bakers Twine from the Sealed with Love kit. 

 

The candy was slipped into one of the kit's pre-cut and scored envelopes and tied with Calypso Coral Ruffled Ribbon.  That narrow Pool Party ribbon is also part of a Sale-a-Bration bonus product;  I curled a short length of it and added it to the bow.

Triple Treat & Twitterpated: CCMC194

LOL!  I couldn't resist the alliteration temptation!    The Triple  Treat Flower (#122909) is a single stamp that has been available this year in the A La Carte section of the annual Stampin' Up! Catalog, but as of recent has been featured as one of the bonus products available free for a $50. Sale-A-Bration order (#127725)!  It has been widely popular because the design in the flower is such that it can be punched out with two different punches and yield two totally different flowers!  Let's look:

 

The TT Flower stamp was stamped in Riding Hood Red ink onto the same color paper for a tone-on-tone look, and then also onto Whisper White cardstock.  The red on white flower was punched with the Five Petal Flower Punch and two RHRed flowers were punched with the Fancy Flower Punch.  All these were layered together with Dimensionals onto a slightly larger RHRed flower punched with the Blossom Punch.  A Baja Breeze Glimmer Brad (from the Subtles Collection) centers the flower for a lovely touch of shimmer.

You can see the subtle tone on tone on the red flower in the above picture, as well as the "hello" from the Tiny Tags stamp set that was punched out with the Jewelry Tag Punch and tucked under the Baja Breeze Seam Binding Ribbon bow.

The front panel is a print from the Twitterpated Designer Paper; the color scheme for the card was taken from the Baja Breeze, Whisper White and Riding Hood Red used in the print.  Baja Breeze cardstock was punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch was added under the designer paper panel.  Both the Whisper White and the designer paper were run through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder for texture.
