Choose Happiness CCMC378

Happy Thursday, everyone!  And Thursday brings us fun in the form of the weekly Create with Connie and Mary Challenge; this week we have a nifty Color Challenge featuring Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede!

The Choose Happiness set has a number of great images which makes it so versatile; all here are from that set except for the Gorgeous Grunge "splatters".

I stamped the border in Soft Suede, add strips of designer papers and stamped one strip with the leaf stamp to bring in more pf the Mossy Meadow color.  Some fine Victorian Lace was added onto the script DSP and then Linen thread wrapped around and tied in a small bow.

The flower center was graced with Basic Pearls of three sizes then the front layer attached to the Mossy Meadow cardstock base with Dimensionals.  I just realized I didn't use the Big Shot on this card!! That's a rare occasion for me, lol!!  Even the little woodgrain flag is a stamp in the set and was cut out by hand.  : )

Stamps:  Choose Happiness, Gorgeous Grunge
Inks:  Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Whisper White & Mossy Meadow cardstocks; Cherry on Top DSP, Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack
Accessories:  Blender Pen, Linen Thread, Basic Pearls, Victorian Lace, Dimensionals, Snail Adhesive, Paper Snips, Candy Dots

English Garden Thanks!

Here we are at Thursday again; time for another exciting challenge from Create with Connie and Mary!  We have a really great sketch this week... I think you are going to really have fun with it; I did!

I hadn't used the tree in this sweet and versatile set and thought it would work well for the main image; it is so easy to stamp and punch!  I love these coordinating tools that make my (stamping) life easier!  On the Crumb Cake layer, a horizontal strip each of Mint Macaron and the English Garden designer paper form the backdrop for the wooden "Thanks" then three designer paper banners are tucked underneath.  A piece of Linen Thread was tied around the top layer and tied for one more little touch and dimension.

I added some subtle sprinkles with the stamp from Gorgeous Grunge and Mint Macaron ink but they are barely perceptible in the photos. The top layer was adhered to the Lost Lagoon base card with Dimensionals.  I love the way this turned out, thanks to all these lovely papers and products!

Stamps:  Sprinkles of Life (Ronald McDonald House Charity receives $3. from each set sold), Gorgeous Grunge
Inks:  Mossy Meadow, Mint Macaron, Soft Suede
Paper:  English Garden Designer Paper;  Lost Lagoon, Mint Macaron, Crumb Cake, Old Olive cardstocks
Accessories:  Expressions Natural Elements (Thanks), Linen Thread, Tree Builder Punch.

Here is the cool sketch for this coming week at Create with Connie and Mary:

Okay, how about it?!  Are you ready to take this fun sketch challenge and make it your own?  We can't wait to see what you come up with!  Just be mindful of the guidelines at Create with Connie and Mary and while there, check out the creations of the other Challenge Team members.. they're amazing!!

Happy Umpteenth Birthday! CCMC316

We have a beautiful color combo to use for our challenge this week at Create with Connie and Mary!  Blackberry Bliss, Soft Sky and Old Olive are the colors we get to work with and they look great together!

I just received this new Oh My Goodies set and thought the birthday image would be a great focal point stamped in Blackberry Bliss, which I did.  I then stamped it again in Old Olive and cut out the "umpteenth" to layer on top.  The card base is Blackberry Bliss layered with Old Olive then the top layer of Soft Sky stamped with the leaves from Kinda Eclectic set.

Before attaching to the olive layer, I wrapped a length of White Organza ribbon around then wrapped Old Olive Baker's Twine around twice and tied it in a bow.   After adhering the Soft Sky, I attached the sentiment with Dimensionals.  The flower stamp from Something to Say was stamped in Blackberry Bliss and attached with Glue Dots.  I actually made a another card first and put just a touch of Dazzling Details in the center; when it dried the centers were a bright pink!  Even though I liked how they looked, I decided to make another one that stuck with the color scheme, lol!

Here's what I used:
Stamps:  Oh My Goodies, Kinda Eclectic, Something to Say.
Inks:  Old Olive, Blackberry Bliss
Paper:  Whisper White, Soft Sky, Old Olive, Blackberry Bliss
Accessories:  Flower punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Deco Framelits, Old Olive Bakers Twine, White Organza Ribbon, Paper Snips, Glue Dots, Dimensionals.

Here again are the challenge colors from Create with Connie and Mary this week:

Do U Speak Flamingo Lingo?

WooHoo, I'm finally sharing the card I made for my first Control Freaks swap!  I was honored and excited to be invited to join this group of fabulous SU stampers!  Since the theme was New Catalog swap, I chose to use the cute Flamingo Lingo set new in this catalog!

Stampin' Up! had a flamingo set years ago; I used a friend's set but never bought it.  This time I jumped at the chance to have this fun and sunny set!  The color scheme is Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight and a touch of Garden Green.

Here's what I used for my twenty-six swap cards:

Stamps:  Flamingo Lingo, Petite Petals, Gorgeous Grunge, Kinda Eclectic (sun rays).
Inks:  Strawberry Slush, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green.  Green Sharpie to color Rhinestones.
Paper:  Strawberry Slush, Whisper White cardstocks.  Gold Glimmer Paper.  Sweet Taffy DSP.
Accessories:  Scallop Top Tag, Petite Petals, 3/4" Circle (sun), Bird Builder (leaf stems) Punches. Bitty Banners Framelits, Rhinestones.

Hope you enjoy this fun set!  Happy Stamping!

Park Lane, Flower Patch CCMC315

We have a fun sketch for you this week at Create with Connie and Mary!  All these fun verticals in the background are an interesting opportunity for creativity!  I chose to use strips of the lovely Designer Series Paper Collection,  Park Lane.

The card base is Daffodil Delight with a layer of Old Olive cardstock over that.  Then the strips of DSP according to the sketch.

The large Flower Patch stamp was inked in Daffodil Delight and stamped onto Whisper White, then a second one was stamped also.  The large flower was diecut with the matching Flower Fair Framelit and the center section was fussy cut with my Paper Snips and layered with a Dimensional.

The horizontal banners were cut from the Park Lane DSP (top) and the Sweet Taffy (bottom, Daffodil Delight ombre).  I used Vanilla Shimmer Spritz over the card then several Pearls were added.  I didn't add a greeting but chose to wait until I was ready to send the card.

Stamps:  Flower Patch
Inks:  Daffodil Delight
Paper:  Park Lane and Sweet Taffy DSP; Daffodil Delight, Old Olive and Whisper White cardstocks.
Accessories:  Flower Fair Framelits, Big Shot, Paper Trimmer, Vanilla Shimmer Spray, Paper Snips, Pearls, Dimensionals.

Here is the clever sketch we have from Connie and Mary this week.  It may look challenging but remember it is open to interpretation by the stamp artist!

Now what about you?  Are you game to take on this challenge?  Visit the Create with Connie and Mary website for the guidelines, make your card and upload it then link back to the CWCM challenge post!  While you are there, look for the cards from the other Design Team members.. they are always so creative and inspiring!

Let Your Hair Down, CCMC 314

Wow, it's time for another fun challenge from Create with Connie and Mary... today it's a cool color challenge!  They do such a great job creating these challenges!

The colors for us to use this week are Bermuda Bay, Basic Grey and the new In Color, Tangelo Twist!  These colors really look sharp together.  I used Sahara Sand as my neutral background.  The card base is Bermuda Bay (8-1/2" x 5-1/2", fold), a layer of Sahara Sand (3 3/4" x 5 1/8") and a narrow 1/2" strip of Tangelo Twist tucked under the right side of the Sahara Sand, leaving only about 1/8" showing.

I first stamped some dots across the right side of the background,  Next I punched out a square of each color cardstock except for the Bermuda Bay, which I punched from a pattern in the Brights DSP Paper Stack.  I embossed the cardstocks in the Big Shot, laid them out on the background and used the Paper Piercer, foam piercing pad and the square template in the Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce around each.  Then I accented each with a Candy Dot.

Lastly I stamped the greeting in Basic Black and quickly embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.  Viola, clean, simple and a finished birthday card for someone, especially a guy, don't you think?

Stamps:  Let Your Hair Down (new Hostess set, greeting), Gorgeous Grunge (spots)
Inks:  Bermuda Bay (stamped off once before stamping), Basic Black
Paper:  Bermuda Bay, Tangelo Twist, Basic Grey and Sahara Sand cardstocks; Brights DSP Paper Stack.
Accessories:  1" Square Punch, Paper Piercer, foam Piercing Pad, Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Arrows and ZigZag TIEFs, Brights and Neutrals Candy Dots.

Here again is the color challenge from Create with Connie and Mary this week:

Isn't this a great color scheme?  How about taking the challenge and joining us this week for this fun color scheme!  We'd love to see what you do with it!  All you need to know is on the Create with Connie and Mary website, and while you're there, check out the wonderful creations of the Design Team... they always inspire me and I just know you'll also be inspired!

Flower Patch, Sketch CCMC313

Hi there!  It's Thursday and time for another great sketch from Create with Connie and Mary!  This sketch is different from any I've done amd I really enjoyed creating with it!  It's a great opportunity to use some of our beautiful Designer Series Papers!  : )

For the three-part strip down the left side I used three prints from the pretty Flowerpot DSP (don't forget DSP is on sale this month!!) and took the color scheme for the card from the papers.  The card base is Garden Green cardstock, topped with a layer of Blushing Bride cardstock, then the DSP.  I used the Essentials Paper Piercing Pack template for the scallops down the side of the DSP, then stamped some sprinkles with the Gorgeous Grunge sprinkles stamp.

The flower is Daffodil Delight stamped with the largest Flower Patch stamp and the larger Tangerine dotted center, then cut with the matching Framelit from the Flower Fair Framelit set;  the leaf is from the same sets.  The "hello" was stamped in Tangerine Tango then several Basic Rhinestones were added (I colored them first with with Blendabilities markers) for some final bling!

Stamps:  Flower Patch, A Dozen Thoughts (sentiment)
Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Tangerine Tango.  Blendabilities for coloring Rhinestones.
Paper:  Garden Green, Blushing Bride, Whisper White cardstocks; Flowerpot Designer Series Paper.
Accessories:  Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Piercing Tool, Foam Pad for piercing, Flower Fair Framelits, Basic Rhinestones.

Here is the sketch for the week:
www.createwithconnieandmary.com

Instead of the square card, I used the standard A2 size.

What about you?  Will you take the challenge?  We would love to see what you make with it!  This is a fun and easy one and you can use your DSP and stamps of your choice!  All the guidelines are on the Create with Connie and Mary website for the challenge.  While you're there be sure to check out the creations from the other Design Team members.. they are sooo talented and I always look forward to seeing what they will make!

Happy Blooming Birthday! CCMC312

It's time for another challenge from Create with Connie and Mary!  This week we have a beautiful color combination to create with:  Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey and Sahara Sand!

For this card I used not one but two flower sets,  Petite Petals for the punched-out flowers and Flower Patch for the sentiment and Sahara Sand flowers in the background.

The card base is Hello Honey (8.5"x 5.5", folded), layered with a 4" x 5.25" piece of Blackberry Bliss then topped with a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" piece of Whisper White.  I stamped the white cardstock with Sahara Sand using the Gorgeous Grunge dots stamp across the card plus two solid medium and two small flowers from Flower Patch set.

Next, I stamped the greeting in Blackberry Bliss first then again with Hello Honey slightly offset to the first stamping.  Then I used a great shape from the Apothecary Accents Framelits to diecut the greeting and a second diecut in Blackberry Bliss.  I cut that apart horizontally then adhered it to the back of the greeting layer where just a thin border of the Blackberry was showing.

On Whisper White I stamped several flowers of both Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss using stamps from the Petite Petals set.  I immediately took a Blender Pen and dragged some of the color out onto the petals to give them all-over color.  These were attached with Glue Dots and several with Dimensionals.  Lastly I added medium-size pearls from the Basic Pearls pack.  I was happy how this turned out; I just love these flower sets!

Here again is the CCMC312 Color Challenge this week:

Pretty, hmm?  Now it's your turn to take the challenge!  The guidelines are on the Create with Connie and Mary website; while you're there, be sure and see what the other Design Team members did with this color scheme.. beautiful!!

Thanks for visiting!  Happy stamping!!

Sunshine Birthday! CCMC311

Today we have a fun sketch over at Create with Connie and Mary, CCMC311; I eagerly gathered up some new catalog products to use for my challenge card this week!

This sun is so bright and sparkly, thanks to the new Gold Glimmer Paper, love it!  I diecut it with a Starburst Framelit (second from the smallest) then added the sentiment from the new Ray of Sunshine set stamped in Tangelo Twist (new In Color) on Hello Honey and punched it out with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch.

The grid paper background is from the Moonlight DSP Paper Stack;  I stamped it with the sunburst stamp in the new Kinda' Eclectic set, used strips of other DSPs from the same pack for the two banners, then layered the sun on top.

The two petite butterflies are from the Kinda' Eclectic set also; I cut a very narrow piece of the Gold Glimmer Paper and adhered it to the butterflies for the body.   I punched a 1/4" circle to add to the bottom of the sentiment layer.  Pretty simple once I figured out what to do!  I think I know just the person to whom I'm going to send this sparkly greeting!!

Stamps:  Kinda' Eclectic, Ray of Sunshine
Inks:  Tangelo Twist, Hello Honey
Paper:  Moonlight DSP Paper Stack;  Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Whisper White cardstocks.  Gold Glimmer Paper
Accessories:  1/4" and 1-3/8" Circle, Bitty Butterfly Punches; Starburst Framelits, Big Shot, Magnetic Cutting Platform.

Here is the sketch from Create with Connie and Mary for this week:
