Two More Spool Cards!

I have the two other spool cards to share with you today.  These are fun to make and I like that I can use up stamping left-over  and bits that make them unique. If you missed the first spool card, you can see it on yesterday's post by clicking  HERE.

The above card was made with Baked Brown Sugar cardstock, a pattern from the Etcetera DSP for the background and another pattern has the measuring tapes on it.   I can't remember which set has the sentiment in it as I made these a month ago!  I did use the Simply Pressed Clay for the flower which I painted with an ink refill and AquaPainter.  Other accessories are just from leftovers on my table or retired items.

Sahara Sand is the cardstock used for the base of this card and, like the other two cards, I stamped it with the Woodgrain background before decorating.  The same Etcetera DSP is used here as well as the Simply Pressed Clay flowers and some random items on my stamping table + some retired items.

I didn't have any written instructions but here's what I do:

1.  Cut cardstock for base at 3-3/4" x 11" and fold in half.  Stamp the front with the background stamp if desired.
2.  Still folded, place card onto the Envelope Punch Board with the long side snug up against the back ledge and the end at the 1-1/4 line and punch.  Flip over to punch the same side at the other end.  Then punch the opposite side of the card the same way.  Using your personal paper trimmer, cut off the tabs of cardstock between the divots you just punched.
3.  (Optional)  I also rounded the four corners by centering the (top or bottom) edge of the card into the little "tunnel" in the punch of the EPB and punching.
4.  Cut a piece of designer paper 3" square and adhere to center of "spool".  Decorate to your hearts content!

If you're not sure about the directions, just try making one using copy paper and looking at the picture before using your good supplies.  Have fun!  Sorry I didn't take any pictures while making these but I believe you can make one fairly easily!

Envelope Punch Board "Spool" Card!

Happy Saturday, everyone!  We're happy here today as we are getting rain!!  YAY!!  We really need it too!

Today I have what I call a spool card since it looks like a spool of thread.  It's easy to get the shape using the Envelope Punch Board!!  I have a couple of others made and I'll get them posted tomorrow or the next day.

I made this one for a birthday and used up some retired and retiring items, and also the new Coastal Cabana Baker's Twine (I love that twine, don't you?)  The nice thing is you can use bits of ribbon and other items you have on hand to make your own creations.  Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize!  : )

This type card would be lovely to send to a crafter, seamstress, quilter or anyone who appreciates something a little different!

 Stamps:  Itty Bitty Banners, Remembering Your Birthday (inside), Woodgrain background.
Inks:  Strawberry Slush, Crumb Cake pads;  Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Marker on sentiment edge, Daffodil Blendabilities to color plastic rose.
Paper:  Sahara Sand and Whisper White cardstock.  Gingham Garden DSP

 Accessories:  Envelope Punch Board, Bitty Banners Framelits, Coastal Cabana Baker's Twine, Victorian Trim, Strawberry Slush Ruffled Ribbon, Pearls, 1/8" Taffeta Old Olive Ribbon, Vintage Flowers Adornments (retired).

Tags 4 You: Happy Thanksgiving

Fall is here (at least on the calendar) so Thanksgiving can't be too far away!  I"m using the Tags 4 You set again today for this Thanksgiving card in the shape of a file folder!  How did I do that?  With the fabulous new Envelope Punch Board from Stampin' Up!  (Supply is currently limited; they will be backordered soon so order yours now HERE!)

I applied the Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper onto my card before making the tabs with the Envelope Punch Board.  Next is a panel of Island Indigo then a layer of Soft Suede that has been embossed with the Big Shot and the Pretty Print embossing folder over that.

The label was stamped with Soft Suede ink onto Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock and punched out with the Label Bracket Punch.  This punch and the Tags 4 You set are new in the Holiday Catalog, pg. 37, and you SAVE 15% when you purchase them together as a Bundle.  Just be sure and use the Bundle item number when you order (#133293,wood or #133294,clear-mount!).

I stamped the turkey label (from the Harvest of Thanks set, p. 19, Holiday catalog) in Pistachio Pudding, diecut it with the matching Deco Label Framelit then layered the Thanksgiving punch onto that.  Next it was layered over a piece of Natural Trim Ribbon to the Soft Suede panel.

 Inside the card you see how I attached a 1" strip of Venetian Romance Designer Paper before the tab was cut.   The verse is from the Trust God set and is just right for a Thanksgiving card!

Harvest of Gratitude Pocket Card

The sketch challenge this week at Create with Connie and Mary has a twist:  CCMC 267 is a sketch AND pocket card!  How fun!  I've been using this new Harvest of Gratitude set and saw it would fit this sketch and pocket card challenge quite nicely!

The colors are from this plaid sheet of Designer Series Paper from the Sweater Weather collection:  Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip and Crushed Curry.  I love blues and browns together and the curry gives it an extra pop.   The banner on the left is the new Burlap Ribbon from the Holiday Catalog; really nice!

The pocket itself is a strip of Chocolate Chip cardstock cut 4-1/4" x 9-1/2", scored and folded at 4-1/4".  I used Mono Multi Liquid Glue in a very thin line on both sides to secure the pocket closed; once it's dry I've never had that stuff turn loose!  The card inside is Soft Sky cardstock die cut with the Big Shot and the Oval Accent Die; the opening for ribbon in the top was cut with a little framelit from the Chalk Talk Framelits set.  Love how it makes such a nice finished opening for the ribbon!

 

Speaking of ribbon, I used Soft Sky Seam Binding and tied it with a bow of Linen Thread.  I used the lines stamp ("skid marks") stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge set stamped lightly in Crumb Cake at both the top and bottom of the tag for interest and definition.  Lastly the "Gratitude" was cut with a matching framelit from Itty Bitty Banners Framelits and added to the top of the tag.

The turkey deco label stamp was stamped in Chocolate Chip onto Soft Sky with Crumb Cake ink, then stamped again with Chocolate Chip ink onto Very Vanilla .  The Soft Sky was die cut with the smallest of the Deco Label Framelits.  The vanilla cardstock turkey was punched out with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch then layered over a Crushed Curry circle cut out with the 1-1/2" Circle Framelit.

"You Are Loved" Easel Card

Valentine's Day is approaching soon!  I love how these easel cards can sit up and everyone takes notice, lol!

The largest of the Heart Framelits (approx. 5-1/4" x 4-3/4") was used to cut the Real Red cardstock.  I used my Simply Scored Board to precisely score the folds... so easy.

A More Amore Designer Paper print of tiny gray hearts makes a nice backdrop for the laser-cut Primrose Petal heart (also from the More Amore pack).  The "Love" layer is stamped in Real Red on Very Vanilla and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch then embellished with Dazzling Details and Pearls. 

Final embellishments are a vanilla resin rose and a resin heart (both from the Artisan Embellishment Kit) and a Baker's Twine bow.  Not shown:  I later stamped a sentiment inside the heart later using the "Happy Valentine's Day" from the set.

It's time to be getting those Valentines made (talking to myself too, lol!)  This is a beautiful set that is also perfect for engagement, showers, anniversary and wedding projects too!

Gatefold Card, DD & FF Day 5

I hope you are enjoying the series of projects made with the Daydream Medallions stamp set and coordinating Floral Frames Framelits; today is the fifth in my series.  Thanks for indulging me in this projects; several friends have told me they have been encouraged to get their sets out and use them, and I hope maybe you will too, if you have them and haven't already!  You'll have as much fun as I'm having!

The card for today is a gatefold card.  Can I just say that this duo is perfect for these?  See what I mean:

Because they are symmetrical in design, they work perfectly for this type of card!

I used these colors from the Floral District Designer Series Paper:  Baja Breeze, Daffodil Delight, Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White.  The background paper on the front of the card is from that package also.  A Vintage Faceted Designer Button accents the center of the flower and a Rhinestone is added to it's center for a little extra sparkle!

This is how it opens up.  The cool thing is that when the card is closed, the rings sort of interlock slightly and hold the card closed rather than it popping open!  Love that!   Inside the card I added two strips of a different pattern of the Floral District Designer Paper to continue the color scheme to the inside.

I didn't add a sentiment because I don't know yet at this time for what occasion I will be sending this card.  The card is 5-1/2", so I cut the base piece of Baja Breeze at 5-1/2" x 11" and scored it on my Simply Scored Board at 2-3/4" and 8-1/4".  Using the Simply Scored made it SO easy to get the sides exactly even!   I used the Mono Multi Liquid Glue to adhere the flower and diecut ring to the front and they are fastened permanently!!  That glue dries very fast too, no waiting!!

Blossom Builders Card

Perhaps you, like me, blew right past the "Designer Printed Kit", Blossom Builders, on page 18 when you first flipped through the 2012 Occasions Mini Catalog.  But this kit really deserves a second and third look!  These blossoms are "bloomin'" wonderful, not to mention quick and easy to create with!

I got the inspiration for this card from one made by my friend Jann McCollom.  I didn't have the measurements for her card so I came up with my own.  I cut my card stock at 4-1/4" x 11" and scored it from the left at 3-1/2" and 7-1/4".  I then made a mark 2" above the bottom on the left side and made a diagonal cut from there to the fold between the middle and back panels.  This gave me a "S" fold card with a slanted top edge.

I began the fun of choosing and combining blossoms from the two sheets of double-sided die-cut flowers printed on textured paper to decorate my card.  There are two duplicate sheets in the Blossom Builders Designer Printed Kit (#125410, $9.95), and each sheet has twenty-seven blossoms, eight colored circles for centers, and six flags or banners such as I used on my card above.  In addition, 60 pink Rhinestones are included, 30 each of two different sizes!  A great value!   Just adhere them to your card with your adhesive and/or Stampin' Dimensionals, and viola!  a lovely creation!!  I only used fifteen blossoms on this card, which is just a tiny bit over half a sheet!!

Above is the card unfolded.  You can tell where I cut the slant on the card.  The card itself is 3-3/4" wide by 4-1/4" tall so the flowers can extend past the card and the card will still fit into a standard A2 envelope.  The only actual stamping here is the "Happiness" (from the Loving Thoughts set, #125845) on the banner plus what greeting I will stamp inside before giving it away.

These blossoms are so quick, easy and fun to use!  and versatile too!!  They are great for cards, scrapbook pages, 3-D projects, eye-catching gift wrappings, framed art and even home decor like garlands and wreaths!  Whatever your imagination can come up with!!

Scallop Cookie Card

What inspires you to create?  Seems that inspiration can be found anywhere, even in acookie!  Using Stampin' Up!'s large Scallop Circle Die (4-3/8") and the new 3-1/2" Circle Die found in the Occasions Mini Catalog, I've made a couple of cards inspired by an "O..." cookie.  : )

Stamps:  Teeny Tiny Wishes; inside:  Something Sweet
Ink:  VersaMark, Chocolate Chip
Paper:  Chocolate Chip, Whisper White cardstock
Other:  Big Shot, Damask Texturz Plate, Scallop Circle Die (4-3/8"), new 3-1/2" Circle Die, White Embossing Powder, 5/16" Brads, 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Small Oval and Large Oval Punches

The front and back of the card is held together by a brad; the card swings open to reveal a circle of Whisper White cardstock stamped with "that was so sweet of you" from the Something Sweet set. I like that I found a verse that fit the contour of the card for this one.

Here's the second card

On the front is a circle image of a gift from the Party Hearty set, layered on Chocolate Chip cardstock.  Otherwise it is the same as the first one.

The front swings open to reveal the inside.

(The brad is at the top of this card).  

Inside the verse, again from the Something Sweet set , and the large birthday greeting from my newly acquired set, Curly Cute, which has five really nice greetings and is very attractive!  Couldn't wait to get it!  Across the bottom, I stamped three of the party hats from the Party Hearty set, colored with Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz and Daffodil Delight.

Celebrations "Squash" Book!

I just love making these "squash" books!  They are so much fun!  The Celebrations Designer Series Paper and Celebrations Quick Accents are just the perfect products for making one as they already coordinate with each other and Stampin' Up!'s cardstock colors.  Another huge plus is that the Quick Accents are already cut out and are adhesive-backed so no taking time to adhere glue and no glue mess!  Both products are 12" x 12".

The cover (above), featuring a stamp from Party Hearty, "Celebrate You" in matching cardstock and ink, and adhesive accents.

The entire book, opened.  You can see that there ten squares for adding pictures; some of those have a fold in the center, so you can either cut your pictures or use smaller pictures on each side.

One of the larger circle adhesive diecuts, cut in halves.  These would be perfect areas for smaller pictures or journaling about the nearby pictures.

The back of the squash book with a Celebrations DSP print layered onto Real Red cardstock and a strip of the Quick Accents.

In addition to the Celebrations Paper and Quick Accents, I used 8-1/2" squares of coordinating Pear Pizzazz layered with Pacific Point or Real Red cardstock, yielding a book that is 4-1/4" x 4-1/4".  This is a great size to carry in your purse to show pictures of your family, pets, child's soccer team, trips or whatever you wish!  You may adjust the size of the book by using larger squares of cardstock.  These books also make great gifts and can be done for any holiday or theme!  I'm thinking Valentine's next...

Pretty Amazing!

Isn't this just Pretty Amazing?! That's actually the name of the stamp set used, but I think it perfectly describes the card itself too! This card was made by Judy DiScipio; she gave it to me at an online group meeting in Salt Lake City at the Stampin' Up! Convention a few weeks ago. I haven't stopped ooooohhhing and ahhhhhhh-ing over it since! Her coloring on the hummingbird and cutting/layering on the flower are just impeccable. The touch of glitter on the belly of the little bird is a perfect highligh for this stunning card!

This type of card is called a Spring Card; it stands up by itself! Judy had posted a different spring card to our online group a few weeks before the tutorial showed up on Splitcoast. Tri-Fold Card

On check-in day at the Stampin' Up! Convention, we first shopped Memento Mall (Stampin' Up! logo items and such) then picked up our Convention bags that had our three new stamp sets and our brand new Fall/Winter Idea Book & Catalog! After quickly grabbing a glance at the catalog and lunch, several of us were off to an afternoon of stamping. We had signed up months ago for a Stamp Camp that was organized by two Stampin' Up! demonstrators at a near-by hotel. They had designed about eight projects for us to do. It was fun being the "student" instead of the teacher for a change! LOL!!! (although I love being the teacher too!) ☺

This tri-fold card was one of the projects. I really like the fold and the belly-band around it to keep it closed. Each panel was covered by one of the Designer Papers from the Prints Pack, a Level I Hostess reward from the Spring-Summer Catalog. The large star was punched with SU's Large Star punch then layered with the small star that was stamped then punched with the smaller Star punch.

I really like this card style and look forward to making more of these! ....umm, I'm thinking of some of the new Designer Papers and stamp sets using this fold .....oh, yeah!!
