"Gently Falling" Thanksgiving Card

Hello!  Hope you are enjoying your Saturday and perhaps stamping while the guys are watching football today!  lol!  That's my story-- although I will turn on the TV to watch our two Oklahoma teams, OU and OSU, play their opponents this evening while I stamp!!  Boomer Sooner and Go Cowboys!!  {smile}

Today's card again uses the beautiful two-step stamping "Gently Falling" set (which I used previously for this card).  I really like this set and am very glad I got it!  Actually I received an additional discount on it because of  my demonstrator title; it was part of the Spice Cake Product Bundle for demos to pre-order.. another perk of being an SU demo!  You should join me-- it will change your life!  : )

I used the colors from the Spice Cake Product Suite for this card:  Cajun Craze, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, More Mustard, River Rock, Soft Suede and Not Quite Navy.  (I seem to be lovin' that Not Quite Navy these days!! ..used a lot of it lately!).  I used sponges and daubers to add the various inks to my solid stamps before stamping, then stamped the bold outlines afterwards.  I used our new product Dazzling Details around on some of the bold lines but sadly don't think I caught  any of those gorgeous sparkles in my photo (it was a cloudy day when I took these pics).

The banner is stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock with a greeting from the Falling Leaves set, edges sponged and some more Dazzling Details added periodically around the edges.  It is finished with one of the verry cute little Mini Clips in brass.

This picture shows the detail of the new-to-the-2011 Catalog Lace Border Punch; it's a beauty!!  At about 1-1/4" wide, it makes quite a statement on a card--love it!  This is one you'll definitely want to add to your collection!  It is punched from More Mustard cardstock, backed with Pool Party and edged with Not Quite Navy.  I used the new Island Indigo In Color Ruffled Ribbon to run through and knot in the center of each "doily-like" portion of the lace;  love how the Island Indigo works perfectly with Not Quite Navy and the other colors used here.

I lightly stamped two different leaf outlines and added a narrow strip of the Not Quite Navy on the inside to dress it up and stamped the "Happy Thanksgiving" greeting from the Curly Cute greeting set (which has the most adorable font!)

Flight of the Butterfly

It's spring and time for fresh colors and butterflies! This is one of the cards I made for my Stamp-A-Stack last week; it uses a lovely and versatile set titled Flight of the Butterfly. What a fun set too! It is a "Two-Step Stamping" set where you stamp once then stamp a different stamp on top of that which is designed to add more dimension, color or detail to the first stamping. For example, I stamped the large solid butterfly in Pale Plum then stamped the flower stamp, which is the same shape and size, on top of that in a deeper color, Perfect Plum. This can easily be done with the Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement of your layers!

The Designer Paper is from the Delicate Dots package which was a Sale-A-Bration premium product. I just love the soft and spring-y colors in it and this is one of my favorite patterns in the whole package! The Eyelet Border Punch used on white cardstock to make the eye-catching border is a great finishing touch! The butterfly "trail" is one of four sentiments in the set and is stamped in Old Olive ink.

Sale-A-Bration Samples from a Friend!

One of the great perks of being a stamper and Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is the opportunity to join not only a nationwide but a worldwide family of Stampin' Up! demonstrators and customers. I have had the pleasure of corresponding with stampers in a number of countries from Holland to Australia and have guests visit my blog from all over the world! How cool is that!

I did a little favor for a fellow demonstrator /friend Barbara from NJ who I have met at the Stampin' Up! Convention at least twice and she blessed me with TWO Thank You cards! How sweet she is! She is a wonderful stamper and we are both in a small online group of stampers where we share ideas and stamping samples.

Here are the two cards Barbara sent me; both use Sale-A-Bration stamp sets.

The top one uses the Polka Dot Punches SAB set as well as the SAB Delicate Dots Designer Paper. The flowers are stamped then punched out with the 5 Petal Flower Punch. The flourish frame behind the "Thank You" is from the Yummy SAB stamp set. The wonderful new Eyelet Border Punch gives a polished finish to the card!

The second card Botanical Blossoms, another SAB stamp set. What a great color scheme; it looks so fresh and spring-y, and love the two step stamping on those sweet flowers!

Technostamper Challenge #19 Wild Rose

The weekend activities have thrown my stamping time off somewhat but I'm catching up with my challenges now! To the right is the sketch for Technostamper's Weekly Sketch Challenge. This is pretty simple and easy, and a good design for everyone from a beginner to advanced cardmaker.

For my card, I used the Wild Rose Two-Step stamp set and coordinating Porcelain Prints Designer Paper. I love these
together! In last year's catalog we had the Recollections Designer Paper which also coordinated with the Wild Rose set but in a different color scheme of burgundy. This paper uses the In Colors® combo of Blue Bayou, Wild Wasabi and River Rock which gives it a totally different feel. This one is great for summer; it looks so cool and peaceful to me.

The card base itself is River Rock, layered with Blue Bayou then the Designer Paper over that. A different layered DP strip goes across the horizontal center. The focal image, the smaller wild rose in the set, was first inked, stamped off on scratch paper then stamped on the cardstock, thus giving a softer shade of Blue Bayou. The second-step stamp was then stamped with the full-strength ink. It's a great way to get varying shades of color from the same ink pad. My Stamp-a-ma-jig was used to line up the stamping. A second flower was stamped the same way, cut out and adhered to the bottom one with Dimensionals. A smattering of green microbeads from the Bead Duos embellish the center, adhered with Crystal Effects.

For the three circles in the design, I punched out three 1/2" circles from one of the other designs in the DP then covered them with Crystal Effects and let them dry overnight. This morning I stuck them down with Mini Glue Dots (can hardly stamp without these!)

Accessories: Green Bead Duos, Crystal Effects, Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, Dimensionals, Paper Snips, 1/2" circle punch.

This is such a beautiful set; I hope it doesn't retire. We will soon know, however, as Stampin' Up! has announced the Retiring Stamp Sets will be announced on June 15! Not far away!

Roses in Winter

Roses in Winter... how I've loved this set! It is so versatile and makes such gorgeous projects, and now it's retiring. : ( It is termed a "2 Step" stamp, but actually the rose has three layers of stamps/colors, giving it greater depth and opportunity for color layering.) This card uses Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Rose Red ink for the rose and Mellow Moss ink for the leaves. The card is Mellow Moss layered with Barely Banana stamped with the same ink.

Roses in Winter is retiring June 29th. Don't miss it if you can use a set that is both beautiful and versatile for a wide spectrum of projects from cards, scrapbooks, "3-D" projects, gift wraps, etc., ad infinitum!

Wild Rose Coaster Picture Frame

Here is another project made with those chipboard 4 x 4" coasters. I covered both sides of the coasters using several of the patterns from the Recollections Designer Paper then punched two 1/8" holes in each coaster. I stamped the rose and three sets of leaves from the Wild Rose stamp set (which incidentally, is the exact match to the flowers in the paper), cut them out and layered them on the left coaster. Then I added the oh, so sweet saying from the Buggies and Booties set (which was just perfect for this project) layered on Mellow Moss cardstock . On the right side I layered the picture of Ella on additional Mellow Moss cardstock. The Burgundy designer paper strips were edged using my retired Stampin' Up! scallop scissors and added to each outside edge. As a finishing touch, and because the saying inspired it, I added some touches of Dazzling Diamonds glitter with the Two-Way Glue Pen. : )

Finally to put it all together, I used Cranberry Stitched Grosgrain ribbon to tie the two sides together. I love this sweet way to display this special photo!
