Petite Petals Anniversary

I started this card several weeks ago then got sick and wasn't able to complete it.  Yesterday I pulled it out and finished it.. yay!  Check one more thing off my catch-up to do list!

 I had begun this card using a color challenge combination of Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo and Smokey Slate but as I worked on it, I decided to add some Perfect Plum in for a little more contrast.  The small flowers are the fabulous Petite Petals set and Punch from the Spring/Occasions Catalog; I am using this pair so much... love it!  First I sponged ink onto Whisper White Cardstock then stamped the flowers with the same color ink and this method gave me lots of contrast in color tones.

The large flower is punched from a lovely Daffodil Delight print from the Quatrefancy Specialty Designer Series Paper pack using the Fancy Flower and Pansy Punches; the top flower is another stamp from the Petite Petals set.  I centered this flower with a Basic Pearl and added crystal Dazzling Details to the center of each petite flower.

Yippee Skippee! CCMC291

After missing out on the Create with Connie and Mary Challenge last week due to illness, it feels good to be back (and feeling better!).  This week is a cool challenge featuring a sketch which easily lends itself to a multitude of interpretations!

I chose to turn the sketch on it's side then flip the focal image to the top rather than the bottom... clear as mud?  lol!  I used this pattern from the beautiful Sweet Sorbet DSP (a Sale-a-Bration bonus product) and accented it with a strip of Summer Starfruit cardstock embossed with the new Arrows embossing folder which echoes a similar design.

"You can never have too much happy" is from the expressive sentiment stamp set Yippee Skippee; it was stamped with VersaMark then heat embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.  I layered this Crisp Cantaloupe Starburst die-cut over a Whisper White Starburst die-cut of the exact same size and rotated it just a tiny bit so only the white points could be seen.  Next I die-cut a third same-size Starburst from Calypso Coral, cut it in equal fourths and attached them to the back, extending them from the edge a bit to accent the sentiment.  A Silver Button tied with Summer Starfruit Baker's Twine accents the bottom.  Basic Pearls colored with a silver Sharpie marker are the final accent.

Watercolor Wonder CCMC289

Thursday means it's time for another fun challenge from Create with Connie and Mary!  Today we have a wonderful sketch for our challenge!  The original is a square card, which is what I did, but it can be used on cards of other shapes too!

I love the colors in the Watercolor Wonders Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Catalog and like how the coordinating patterns work together so beautifully.  These papers make me think of spring, which is a good thing since we are getting hit by winter storm after storm here... they are just lining up all across the country to hit us, it seems!  Hope you are safe and warm where you are!

Card dimensions:
The Whisper White card base is 10" x 5" folded in half.
Chevron DSP is 4-3/4" square.
Island Indigo layer is 3" square.  Indigo banner is 15/16" x 2-1/4".
Floral DSP is 2-7/8" square.
Gumball Green banner is 1" x 1-3/4".
