Autumn Days II

Today's featured card is by Amy Watson and was received in an organized swap at the Stampin' Up! Convention. I love the rich autumn colors Amy used to reflect the season and get us in the mindset for Thanksgiving! I also got to meet Amy in person! Besides being a lovely person, she lives in the very same state I do!

I'm featuring the Autumn Days set again today; it is perfect for this time of year and makes such great cards for the men! Wouldn't this great for a person who enjoys bird hunting? The pheasant was inked in Crushed Curry then it looks like Amy used the "Rock 'n Roll" technique of adding an additional darker color to the stamp before putting it to the cardstock. This is usually done by "rolling" the edge of the rubberstamp around a darker color pad to get ink on the edges; another method is to use a stamping sponge or sponge dauber to add the color. Either way, it gives further dimension to the image when two colors are used.

For the colorful background layer, the leaf from the set was stamped in many fall-ish colors: Crushed Curry, More Mustard, Really Rust, Ruby Red, Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy and maybe another one or two (I don't have her recipe). At any rate, the colors are delicious! This as well as the other layers are placed on Baroque Burgundy cardstock to accent them. The base card of Crushed Curry was stamped very lightly with one of the plant stamps from the set to give a subtle background.

The sentiment is from the "Holiday Best" Level 1 Hostess set and punched out with the Large Oval Punch. Three Gold Brads are the finishing touch. All products are from Stampin' Up! and can be ordered through my Stampin' Up! website here or directly from me.

Thanks, Amy, for a lovely swap card, and so fitting for this season! I'll have some more cards with this set in upcoming posts.

Have a great day, everyone, and hope you have some fun stampin!

Margaret
